- A video shows a video of a Porsche 996 with a Honda K24 engine, enjoying the view on YouTube.
- Tubochared Honda motors produce over 500 hp and have more potential.
- Sold six water cooling flats for jobs 996, helping the owners fund the conversion work.
Did you know that the old saying about Miata is always the answer to any production puzzle? I began to feel that K24 may always be the answer to the engine exchange question. Honda is entering a large number of non-Hundal vehicles, including the Porsche 911.
Recent videos Driver’s The YouTube channel shows a result of such interchange, involving coupes from the early 996s. Owner Ben Sipson was so impressed by the K-type Smart built by his friend that he decided to step onto his own Honda heart transplant.

Many engine switching projects start with cars with engine explosions, but not one. The 911’s 3.4-liter water-cooled flat six is known for failure due to hole scores and intermediate shaft failures, but the Sipson’s engine is still fully functional. So he sold it and sold it was one of the many 996 owners who needed to be replaced and crashed.
The funds raised from this sale help pay for the 2.4-liter inline quad-k24 build, which is by no means standard. It has a freshly machined block, Pulsar 6262g dual roller turbocharger, Haltech 1500 Elite ECU, IGN-1A racing coil, BMW 335I intercooler, home-built intake manifold, upgraded fuel pump and other other benefits.
Kennedy Engineering products adapter boards, clutch and flywheel kits help Honda engines with Porsche transmissions, while LSD ensures clean power reduction. And have enough power.
Sipson owned his 996 Dyno’D before the swap, and the car built 256 hp (260 PS) on its original Porsche electric motor. After the Honda Switcheroo, it kicked over 500 hp (507 PS) and it’s possible to be safe, safe. Traders love the K24 because they are powerful and adjustable, but they are also cheap to buy and build. If one does go to the explosion, the redo hell is much cheaper than the tuned Porsche plane six.
Sipson is through trade manufacturers (see BaysideFabrication.com), creating many of the components needed for the exchange itself, and now sells engine mounting kits to help 996 other builders perform the same exchange. Is the K24 your ideal 911 switch, or do you prefer the LS V8 or other engine?
