- This special 911 Dakar pays tribute to the 911 that won the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally.
- The brand’s experts hand-painted the gorgeous yellow and blue paint scheme.
- Only 2,500 911 Dakars were produced.
Porsche has completed production of the 911 Dakar, and the last model to roll off the production line is more special than most, thanks to the folks at the brand’s Sonderwunsch division.
This 911 Dakar pays homage to the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally-winning 911 driven by René Metge and Dominique Lemoyne. Undoubtedly, the most eye-catching element of this 911 Dakar is the custom exterior paint job, which is inspired by the Rothmans-sponsored car, albeit with a more eye-catching appearance.

The car comes in a combination of Signal Yellow and Gentian Blue metallic colors, with the upper half in yellow and the lower half in blue. The two colors are then separated by a bright blue pinstripe, which really helps make the car’s appearance pop. The lucky owner also asked Porsche to paint the wheels the same yellow as the body, with a Lampedesa blue accent named after the Mediterranean island.
Porsche says the car’s bodywork was entirely hand-painted. It also paints the stainless steel elements on the front, rear and side sills black, while adding Lampedeusablue trim rings to the headlights.
There’s a lot to like about the car’s cabin, too. It’s mostly black leather and Alcantara, but there are some brightly colored areas, including trim on the steering wheel, door panels, gearbox tunnel and dashboard. Speed yellow contrast stitching is also featured, alongside new LED entrance lights that project the Sonderwunsch logo onto the ground.
The German automaker hasn’t disclosed the cost of customizing the 911 Dakar, but it’s inevitably going to cost a lot more than the car’s original price of $220,000. Anyone who lives in or visits the House of Porsche can view the car in the brand’s museum before handing over the keys to its new owner.
During the entire production run of the 911 Dakar, Porsche produced a total of 2,500 units. All models are powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 473 horsepower and paired with an eight-speed PDK transmission driving all four wheels.
