Due to its size, the production version of Mahindra XUV.e9 is much bigger than the just launched Tata Curvv EV, both of which offer a coupe roofline

There has been a lot of activity in Mahindra’s car lineup lately. Several new cars have been spotted testing recently. We can count four – the XUV3XO EV (sub-4m), BE.05, XUV.e8 and XUV.e9. Ahead of its launch, the production version of the Mahindra XUV.e9 has been spotted for the first time in a new black and white camouflage. Let’s take a look.

Production version of Mahindra XUV.e9 spy photos exposed

Every spy photo of the Mahindra XUV.e9 is in blue and purple camouflage with a circuit or motherboard pattern. Except once Mahindra officially teased the BE.05, XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 at its high-speed test facility, at speeds exceeding 200 km/h. In these teasers, we saw the XUV.e9 in white and black camouflage. The latest spy photos are attributed to car enthusiast Hanish.

As far as spy photos are concerned, this is the first test car to be seen with this kind of camouflage. We can infer a few interesting elements from these new spy photos. First, we can see a cool dashboard with large LED daytime running lights and vertically oriented LED headlight setup. These LED daytime running lights are connected by an LED light bar.

The wheels on this test car are completely new compared to the wheels in the previous spy photos. The camouflage on the left rear wheel has been removed, giving us a glimpse of the 5-spoke design with a two-tone effect. These wheels appear to be recessed in the center.

We can see the sleek coupe roofline with a clean design instead of stopping abruptly due to length constraints. At the rear, we can see the large LED taillight signature with a connected design. Interestingly, for the first time, we see an illuminated logo at the rear. However, it appears to be a BE and not the Mahindra EV logo.

This begs the question, is this the first sighting of the BE.09? It’s highly unlikely, as the wheels on this test mule look very similar to the ones we’ve seen on the BE.09 prototype. That said, it’s more likely that this test mule is the production Mahindra XUV.e9, which is the coupe version of the XUV.e8, which is the electric version of the XUV700.

Apart from a few new details seen on the exterior, we can’t glean much more details from these spy shots. The interior will be quite flashy with a three-screen instrument panel and a new steering wheel with illuminated logo. Most of the interior features and components will be shared with the XUV700, which is not a bad thing.

In terms of powertrain, we expect the battery capacity to reach up to 80 kWh for the dual-motor AWD and single-motor versions. From the previous spy photos, we can see that there will be a front trunk under the hood. Considering the frequency of test vehicles appearing, Mahindra may try to launch its upcoming three EVs (BE.05, XUV.e8 and XUV.e9) at the 2025 Auto Expo.
