Rare Amg 560Sec Widebody Sparks Collectors Frenzy, Comes With Trailer
  • This blue and black metallic 560SEC has approximately 56,000 miles.
  • Power comes from a 385-horsepower naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V8 engine.
  • The interior is well-appointed, including heated seats with memory function.

Before Mercedes-Benz acquired AMG and developed its flagship high-performance models in-house, the AMG brand was independent and a specialist in everything that bore the three-pointed star badge. The 560SEC is one of the best products it has ever produced and one of these amazing products is for sale in Texas.

Less than 50 6.0 widebody coupes like this were produced. The 1989 car was delivered brand new to Japan, where it lived until 2016 before being exported to Europe and living in the UK and Austria. It was later moved to the United States and has attracted bids well in excess of the starting MSRP of the new Mercedes-AMG GT.

The trailer listing shows the car was originally painted blue-black metallic from the factory and was repainted under previous ownership. Even though the car is old, it’s still in excellent condition and still rides on the original OZ Racing wheels with black spokes and polished lips. Those wheels are wrapped in sticky Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires, and the car also rocks Bilstein-AMG dampers on all four corners.

Powering this beast is a 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine that pumped out an impressive 385 horsepower when the 560SEC was first launched. While it may not seem that outrageous today, we’re sure it was still a driving riot. Mated to the V8 is a four-speed automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential.

A look inside the cabin shows just how far ahead the German automotive giant was in the 1980s. The car is equipped with heated, electrically adjustable Recaro seats with two-position memory function. There’s burl wood trim everywhere, automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped Momo steering wheel.

The model has traveled approximately 90,000 kilometers (or 56,000 miles) since leaving the factory – just a warm-up lap for the tank-like mercenaries of the era. If you’re itching to park this piece of AMG history in your garage, head over to With trailer bid. But fair warning: As of this writing, bidding has exceeded $350,000, with nearly a day left until the auction. So, unless your wallet is as wide as this car’s rear arches, you’ll probably want to leave this car outside.
