— Alfa Romeo Drivers should watch for a loose brake pedal before releasing the brake pedal and use the parking brake only to stop.
It is because of this possibility that we have recalled approximately 2,100 2019-2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio vehicles.
According to Fiat Chrysler, the fastener connecting the brake pedal to the brake booster may cause the brake pedal to separate from the brake booster.
“Due to misalignment of the tightening station, the connection between the piston and push rod connecting the brake pedal to the brake booster may become loose.” — chrysler
According to Chrysler, mechanical coupling of the brake pedal and brake booster cannot be guaranteed if the piston and pushrod are completely separated. The driver has no choice but to try to stop the vehicle using the electronic parking brake switch.
A loose brake pedal is a warning sign, as is unusual noises.
The faulty parts were supplied by Continental Automotive Systems.
About 80 vehicles are being recalled in Canada.
Once the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio recall letters are mailed on February 7, 2025, FCA dealers will repair the brake components or replace the brake booster.
Concerned Alfa Romeo owners should call 800-853-1403. Alfa Romeo’s brake pedal number is E0B.
Another recall involves more than 100 Mopar anti-lock brake control units with part numbers 68473794AA, 68473795AA, 68505330AA and 68472901AA.
Dealers will inspect, repair or replace brake boosters, and brake boosters not installed on the vehicle will be repurchased.
