Renault Bigster SUV revealed – 5 highlights

The Dacia Bigster (Renault Bigster) has finally been revealed in its final production version ahead of its public debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. Why is this relevant to India? Because the same model is expected to arrive here as a 7-seater Duster SUV. it will be in Third generation Renault Duster (5 seats)expected to be launched in the second half of 2025.

Bigster is a three-row SUV based on Duster, measuring 4.57 meters long, 1.81 meters wide and 1.71 meters high. The wheelbase is 2.7 meters and the ground clearance is 220 mm. Compared to the Duster, it is 230mm longer and has a 43mm longer wheelbase, making it appear larger and provide more cabin space.

The production version remains true to its concept. At the front, it features a large signature grille with a gloss black finish, centrally placed Dacia logo, LED headlights with Y-shaped light signature, and a raised bonnet. The side profile is characterized by pronounced wheel arches, thick plastic body cladding and roof rails. In global markets, the SUV will come with 17- to 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear is equipped with a sporty bumper and LED taillights with a Y-shaped light logo, similar to the front.

Official interior pictures confirm that the Dacia Bigster (Renault Bigster) is a 5-seat SUV with a trunk space of 667 liters. It comes with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument panel and air-conditioning vents with Y-shaped pattern. In terms of features, the Bigster offers dual-zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, an Arkamys sound system, wireless phone charging and a power tailgate. ADAS suite is included as a standard feature.

Globally, the Dacia Bigster (Renault Bigster) will be available with three powertrain options – mild hybrid petrol, full hybrid and LPG. The strong hybrid version will feature a 1.4kWh battery pack, 50bhp dual electric motors and a 107bhp 4-cylinder petrol engine. The petrol engine will be mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox, while the electric motor will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The mild-hybrid Bigster will be powered by a 140bhp, 1.2L turbo-petrol engine mated to a 48V setup and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The SUV will be available in FWD (standard) and AWD (optional) along with five driving modes – Eco, Normal, Snow, Mud/Sand and Off-Road, and Hill Descent Control.

The LPG version will come with a 1.2L mild-hybrid turbo-petrol unit that can run on both LPG and petrol. The SUV comes with a 50-liter petrol tank and 49-liter LPG capacity, giving it a range of up to 1,450 kilometers. Its rated output is 140bhp.
