- Rolls-Royce has unveiled a new sports car that’s part work of art, part toy car.
- The model is made from aluminum, wood and the same leather as a “real” Rolls-Royce.
- One dealer listed the Cameo at $5,500, which is pricey, but would make an excellent Christmas gift.
Ultra-luxury convertibles are the ultimate expression of carefree elegance, but they’ve largely become obsolete. The Bentley Azure is a distant memory, while the Rolls-Royce Dawn and Phantom Convertible have also driven off into the sunset.
Rolls-Royce has now launched a new sports car that you can buy from its showrooms and its private offices. It has all the wood and leather you’d expect, but is a little smaller than usual.

Dubbed the Cameo, the model is billed as a “refined miniature sculpture” that pays homage to the company’s early convertibles. Still, the roadster has a thoroughly modern design and uses the same materials as the road-going Rolls-Royce.
This high-end arts and crafts project was assembled by the owners themselves and features a solid oak body and polished aluminum ‘tub’. They are connected magnetically and are held together by an aluminum chassis and four wheels with a self-leveling center cap.
Buyers will also find a 3D-printed interior, using the same leather as a traditional Rolls-Royce. They’re connected by a driver that appears to have an aluminum body and leather cap.
Rolls-Royce hasn’t mentioned pricing, but one dealer has listed the Cameo on its online store. They’re asking $5,500 (£4,347/€5,243), which doesn’t sound too bad. Don’t expect Cyber Monday discounts, though.
