More details about the Royal Enfield FF.C6, such as range, battery capacity, charging time, etc., will be announced in the coming days
At the 2024 EICMA, Royal Enfield unveiled its first electric motorcycle, called the Flying Flea FF-C6. The name Flying Flea also represents a new range of electric motorcycles that will use the same platform. Apart from the classic style FF.C6, Royal Enfield also previewed the scrambler style FF.S6. The two electric motorcycles are expected to be launched in early 2026.
Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle – Flying Flea FF.C6
While the electric space is new to Royal Enfield, the brand maintains strong ties to its lineage. Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle, the FF.C6, is inspired by the Flying Flea motorcycle used during World War II. The legendary Flying Flea motorcycle is known for its simple design, powerful performance and agile handling. All these features are now incorporated into the electric version of the FF.C6.
Royal Enfield ensures that people opting for sustainable products do not have to compromise on styling. That’s why the Flying Flea FF.C6 electric motorcycle has a simple yet attractive design. Round headlights and rearview mirrors accentuate the retro silhouette. The motorcycle also features a circular TFT instrument panel. While the model shown has a rider-only seat, pillion seats and other support gear will be available as accessories.
Exclusive flying flea logo
Royal Enfield will use a new logo for its Flying Flea series of motorcycles. The logo takes on the shape of a parachute, highlighting the agile nature of these bikes and their connection to their predecessors. Lightning elements can also be seen, suggesting completely new ideas and the electric underpinnings of the motorcycle. The letters used on the logo include “Flying Flea” at the top and “Royal Enfield” at the bottom.
The only production motorcycle in the world equipped with a Girder fork
One of its standout features includes the rugged-looking Girder forks. These were very popular in the 1930s and 1940s. As of now, the Flying Flea FF.C6 will be the only production motorcycle in the world equipped with a Girder front fork. In addition to its attractive styling, the Girder fork ensures a unique riding experience.
Forged aluminum frame and magnesium battery box
Another attractive feature is the forged aluminum frame. Its curvilinear design enhances the retro feel of the bike. The aluminum frame is strong and lightweight, ensuring the best of both worlds for an electric motorcycle. When looking at this bike, one is also drawn to the wind-shaped silhouette of the battery box. The fins have a curved profile that directs air in an optimized way. The battery box is made of magnesium and is significantly lighter. Magnesium also has good thermal conductivity, which means the cooling of the battery pack is improved.
Patented technology
Royal Enfield has put a lot of time and effort into developing its first electric motorcycle. Many advanced technologies are being used, many of which have been patented. 28 patents have been filed in the past 6 months alone. Royal Enfield has developed its own in-house software for the e-bike so that changes and updates can be made easily. The bike also uses a custom chip.
The in-house developed central vehicle control unit (VCU) seamlessly integrates all various physical and digital components. VCU supports more than 200,000 riding mode combinations to meet the different needs and preferences of cyclists. Flying Flea FF.C6 will receive OTA updates and comprehensive connectivity features. Other key features include traction control, cornering ABS and lean-angle sensing ABS. The bike has disc brakes on both ends.
Royal Enfield Flying Flea FF.C6 – Range, Battery, Charging Time
Enthusiasts are expecting some specifications to be unveiled during the launch of Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle. However, key specifications such as driving range, battery chemistry and capacity, and charging time have not yet been disclosed. However, it is safe to assume a range of more than 100 kilometers.
Royal Enfield Flying Flea Scrambler FF.S6 revealed
Along with the launch of FF.C6, Royal Enfield also previewed the Scrambler version FF.S6. It has some unique features such as an enduro-inspired one-piece bench seat, USD forks, and aluminum spoked wheels. The Scrambler version has 60% more suspension travel.
