The Interceptor Bear 650 will be Royal Enfield’s fifth model to be powered by a 648cc parallel twin-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine rated at 46.4bhp at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm at 5,650rpm.
It is known that Royal Enfield is preparing its new Interceptor Bear 650, which is likely to make its global debut at EICMA 2024 (November 7-10). The Interceptor Bear 650 is essentially an off-road vehicle based on the Interceptor 650 and will be the company’s fifth model to feature a 648cc parallel twin-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine. While it’s not confirmed yet, we expect the upcoming Scrambler to appear sometime after its EICMA debut.
While pricing will be announced in due course, we already have images of what looks like a production-ready Interceptor Bear 650, and based on the images, the bike sports a Scrambler-like design. While the Interceptor Bear 650 shares the round LED headlight, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, integrated seat setup and tubular armrests with the Interceptor 650, the former stands out with its different LED taillights and turn indicators. Other notable features include wire-spoke wheels, knobby tires and inverted front forks.

Also visible in the image is a single-pod instrument cluster, which could be a full TFT or an analog TFT unit with Bluetooth connectivity. Switchable ABS (anti-lock braking system) and USB charging are also expected. Hardware-wise, the Interceptor Bear 650 uses a steel chassis suspended by an inverted front fork and dual rear shock absorbers, both of which have longer travel than the Interceptor 650. The braking device consists of brake discs at both ends. Being a Scrambler, the wheel size should be 19 inches in the front and 17 inches in the rear.
Royal Enfield Interceptor Bear 650: Powertrain
The Interceptor Bear 650 is equipped with the same 648cc air-cooled/oil-cooled parallel-twin engine as the other 650cc models, capable of producing 46.4bhp at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm of peak torque at 5,650rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. What sets the new Bear 650 apart is its two-into-one exhaust setup, making it the first bike on the 650cc platform to do so.

Royal Enfield may position the Interceptor Bear 650 above the 650 twins. Taking this into account, it is expected to be priced between Rs 3.40 and 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
