Royal Enfield global recall: Key details

The latest recall covers motorcycles produced between November 2022 and March 2023. The brand’s parent company, Eicher Motors, announced the decision after detecting defects involving rear and/or side reflectors. The reflector in question may not meet the necessary reflective performance standards and may affect the motorcycle’s visibility. The company said the issue was found in only a small number of manufactured devices, but the exact number has not been disclosed. It acknowledges that rider safety may be at risk if reflectors do not work properly in low-light conditions, reducing visibility. Therefore, the brand chose to recall the affected motorcycles to resolve the issue. This precautionary measure is designed to maintain the highest safety standards, ensure rider well-being and comply with safety regulations.

Motorcycles with defective reflectors will be repaired free of charge in the Indian and international markets. The company plans to make the replacement in phases, starting with South Korea and then expanding to other markets, including the United States, Canada, India, Latin America, Europe and the United Kingdom. This systematic approach ensures that all affected equipment globally receives the necessary replacements to meet safety standards.

According to the company, the reflector replacement process will be quick, taking approximately 15 minutes to complete. Motorcycle owners with faulty reflectors will be notified by the brand and allowed to make an appointment at the nearest service center for repairs.
