- The G-Class’s original 2.3-liter engine has been reworked with new internals.
- The interior features handsome saddle-colored leather upholstery and a Sony sound system.
- A 2-inch lift kit with new shocks and springs should help the Merc conquer any terrain.
Whether the soft top is up or folded, this overhauled Mercedes-Benz G-Class from Legacy Overland is ready for any adventure. Sure, it might not have the same tech as the new G-Wagen, but it has a retro vibe that can’t be matched by any modern off-roader, not even the modified Ford Mustangs we keep seeing.

The G-Class was delivered to Legacy Overland in particularly poor condition, covered in rust, dust and dirt. It was completely dismantled and rebuilt with newer parts, and the manufacturer restored the original bodywork and finished it with bronze metallic and satin black trim and accents.

This classic Mercedes off-roader rides on 20-inch AMG wheels and comes with a custom soft top. Legacy also installed a snorkel, black bull bars, headlight grilles and a heavy-duty winch in case the owner becomes trapped or finds someone else trapped. The headlights and taillights have also been updated with LED lights.

Rather than install a new engine, the owner chose to rebuild the G’s original 2.3-liter engine with new internals, gaskets, injectors, and sensors. The automatic transmission and transfer case were also overhauled. Giving the G320 2 inches of lift are new shocks, bushings and coil springs.

No good remodel is complete without a fresh-faced interior. Key upgrades to the G-Class include a wood steering wheel, saddle-coloured leather upholstery, new rear bench seats, a two-tone Sony system with Bluetooth and a custom center tunnel with USB port.
While we don’t know how much the owner spent on this rather extensive restoration, it certainly didn’t come cheap. But as a way to stand out on the road, cruise along the beach or hit an off-road trail, this restored G-Class ticks all the boxes.
