
wattYears ago, when Taryn Miracle was a young mom looking for a job, she knew what she would be doing now if her first child didn’t require on-site day care. As it happened, the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa in Acme offered this service to its employees, and a job opened up in the resort’s administrative office, which she gladly accepted.
Today, Miracle serves as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Delamar Traverse City. She takes on the position in May 2022 after working at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa for about 10 years, switching to sales after deciding she wanted a position with more interaction with employees and the public. She then worked in sales positions at the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City for nearly 10 years. “What attracts me to the sales side is developing relationships with clients and being involved in informing the property story,” she said. “I found it energizing can help tell the story. “
Miracle recalls an unforgettable experience while working at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, where she tried to A relationship developed over many years with a client who booked the property for an event twenty years ago. She said the client kept turning her down when trying to book a return trip. Finally, the client said he could come back and arrive on a private jet. Miracle and her colleagues spent 90 minutes demonstrating the facilities and demonstrating how the resort would be a good fit again.
“They ended up booking it and there was over a million dollars worth of business behind it,” she said. “That’s the part I really love about sales. You hear so many ‘nos’ and you just have to keep going back. It’s so satisfying when a customer says ‘yes.'”
She said the most important part of what she does is listening to meeting planners so that She could understand what their goals were. “This opens the door for both of you to work together to realize this vision in the best way possible,” she said. “If you can do that, everyone wins and they are leadership heroes.”
