Volkswagen and Skoda ranked 9th and 10th respectively in the car manufacturer rankings in November 2024, with the Taigun and Kushaq being the best-selling models respectively
Volkswagen and Skoda both experienced negative year-on-year and month-on-month sales growth. Volkswagen’s market share also fell to 0.9%. Skoda’s market share fell to 0.8%, a significant decrease from its 1.1% share in November 2023.
Volkswagen Breakdown Sales Volume November 2024
Volkswagen sales in November 2024 were 3,033 vehicles. This is down 2% from November 2023 sales of 3,095 units. However, month-on-month sales were down 32% from October 2024 sales of 4,458 units. This was a sales decline of 1,425 units. Despite the decline in demand year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter, the Taigun remains the best-selling model in the company’s portfolio. Taigun sales last month were 1,497 units, down from 1,771 units in November 2023. Sales in October 2024 were 2,028 units.
Virtus sales increased 24% year-on-year to 1,457 units, up from 1,174 units in November 2023. However, due to the increase in holiday sales to 2,351 units in October 2024, it fell 38% month-on-month. Tiguan SUV sales drop by 47 units By November 2024, sales will decrease to 79 units. More than 150 units were sold in November 2023, while sales were flat with 79 units sold in October 2024. Volkswagen is now launching the Taigun mid-size SUV, Virtus mid-size sedan and Tiguan SUV with year-end discounts of up to Rs 2 lakh.
Skoda sales breakdown for November 2024
In November 2024, Skoda’s sales also dropped to 2,886 units both year-on-year and month-on-month. This is down 24% year-over-year from the 3,783 units sold in November 2023. As of October 2024, month-on-month sales were down 29% from 4,079 units sold. Sales fell by 1,193 units.
Skoda Kushaq topped the sales list with 1,524 units sold. However, compared with the 1,908 units sold in November 2023 and 2,213 units sold in October 2024, this represents a year-on-year decrease of 20% and a month-on-month decrease of 31%. Followed by Skoda Slavia, sales last month were 1,131 units, a year-on-year decrease of 35% and a month-on-month decrease of 31%. The Skoda Kodiaq has received a positive response, with sales of 225 units in the past month, a 79% year-on-year increase from the 126 units sold in November 2023. Demand is also up 8% month-on-month compared to the 209 units sold in October 2024. The Skoda Superb sold 20 units in October 2024 and only 6 units were sold in November 2024, a decrease of 70%.
Skoda and Volkswagen combined sales in November 2024
Volkswagen and Skoda sold a total of 5,919 vehicles in November 2024, a decrease of 5.76% from the 6,281 vehicles sold in November 2023. Among the major performers, Volkswagen Taigang and Virtus performed strongly, with year-on-year growth of 27.51% and 24.11% respectively. Kodiaq sales also achieved a staggering growth of 78.57%, with sales increasing to 225 units from 126 units a year ago.
However, the sales of Skoda Kushaq and Slavia fell significantly, down 20.13% and 35.33% respectively. At the same time, Tiguan sales fell sharply by 47.33%, and the recently added Superb sales also reached 6 units. Overall, the mixed performance highlights the challenges and successes both brands face in a highly competitive market.
