Sales volume of 150cc to 200cc motorcycles in November 2024

The total sales volume of the 150cc to 200cc motorcycle market in India was 1,45,968 units in November 2024, a decrease of 12.49% as compared to 1,66,803 units in November 2023. While a few models saw growth, most saw significant sales declines, reflecting the challenges facing this competitive segment.

TVS Apache led the way with sales of 35,610 units, occupying 24.40% of the market share, but it fell by 13.20% year-on-year, with sales of 5,415 units less than the previous year. Bajaj Pulsar ranked second with 32,997 units, with a market share of 22.61%, but a significant year-on-year decrease of 30.27%, a decrease of 14,323 units.

Honda Unicorn performed the most outstandingly, with sales increasing 52.28% year-on-year, reaching 30,678 units, occupying 21.02% of the market share. This significant growth highlights the growing popularity of unicorns in the commuting space. The Yamaha FZ ranked fourth with sales of 14,406 units, albeit down 11.25%, while the Yamaha MT15 grew slightly by 8.25%, selling 9,894 units, accounting for a 6.78% share. Yamaha R15 sold 7,105 units, but sales dropped significantly by 36.96% year-on-year.

The Honda SP160 also saw a sharp decline of 39.08% with sales of 4,453 units, which may be due to Honda’s recent launch of the 2025 model. The performance of KTM 200 was relatively stable, with 2,726 units sold, a slight decrease of 1.84%. Hero Xtreme 160R/200 sold 2,493 units, down 6.10%, while Hero XPulse 200 recorded a significant growth of 33.04% with sales of 1,933 units. Sales of Bajaj Avenger and Honda CB200X were 1,024 and 941 units respectively, down 25.20% and 24.11% respectively year-on-year. Sales of the Honda Hornet 2.0 dropped significantly by 71.69%, with only 910 units sold compared to 3,214 units last year. Suzuki Gixxer sales fell significantly by 55.83%, with sales of 728 units, while Kawasaki W175 increased significantly by 2,233.33%, although sales were only 70 units.

150cc to 200cc motorcycle sales in November 2024 – month-on-month comparison

In November 2024, the 150cc to 200cc motorcycle segment recorded a significant decline in month-on-month (MoM) sales. Total sales fell by 18.91% with sales of 1,45,968 units as compared to 1,80,003 units in October 2024, a decrease of 34,035 units. Most models saw significant declines, reflecting post-holiday corrections and market dynamics. TVS Apache maintained its lead in the segment with sales of 35,610 units, but this saw a significant decline of 28.92% compared to October, with a loss of 14,487 units. The sales volume of Bajaj Pulsar was 32,997 units, a slight decrease of 9.19%; while the sales volume of Honda Unicorn was 30,678 units, a slight decrease of 3.43%, and it remained relatively stable in the third place.

Among Yamaha’s products, FZ sales dropped 19.40% to 14,406 units; MT15 sales dropped 26.19% to 9,894 units. The R15 had the largest decline among Yamaha’s models, with sales falling 37.94% to 7,105 units, a decrease of 4,344 units from October. Honda SP160 also fell sharply by 15.57%, with sales of 4,453 units. Sales of high-end models such as the KTM 200 fell by 32.32% to 2,726 units. However, Hero Xtreme 160R/200 showed a positive trend with a growth of 7.18% to 2,493 units. Hero XPulse 200 remained stable with sales of 1,933 units, a slight decline of 1.58%.

In the entry-level premium segment, sales of Bajaj Avenger and Honda CB200X declined by 24.76% and 4.66% respectively, with sales of 1,024 and 941 units respectively. Sales of Honda Hornet 2.0 dropped significantly by 27.72%, with sales of 910 units. Suzuki Gixxer faced the worst decline in the segment, with sales falling 59.87% to just 728 units. On the other hand, Kawasaki W175 improved slightly, with sales increasing by 14.75% and 70 units sold.
