Indian 350cc to 450cc motorcycle market performance mixed in July 2024 – Royal Enfield dominates with 81% share
The Indian motorcycle market in the 350cc to 450cc displacement category had a mixed performance in July 2024, with total sales reaching 71,200 units, a year-on-year growth of 0.06% compared to July 2023. The small growth of only 45 units highlights the different fortunes of different models in the segment, with some models growing strongly while others declined.
Sales of 350cc to 450cc motorcycles in July 2024 – Royal Enfield dominates the segment
Royal Enfield continues to dominate the 350cc to 450cc segment with several models leading the sales charts. The Classic 350 remains the best-selling motorcycle in the category with 21,373 units sold in July 2024. However, this is a 14.13% drop from the same period last year and 3,516 units less than in July 2023. Despite the drop in sales, the Classic 350 still holds a 30.02% market share. RE is all set to launch the new Classic 350 on September 1.
Another popular model, the Hunter 350, saw a larger year-over-year decline of 20.89%, with sales of 14,091 units, 3,722 units less than the previous year. The Hunter 350 captured 19.79% of the market share. On the positive side, the Bullet 350 grew 9.40% year-over-year, with sales of 9,949 units in July 2024, 855 more than in July 2023. The Bullet 350’s strong performance contributed 13.97% of the market share in the segment.
Meteor 350 saw a slight decline of 4.15% year-on-year, with 7,901 units sold in July 2024, 342 units less than the previous year. Meteor 350 captured 11.10% of the market share. Bajaj Pulsar 400, which recently entered the market, sold 3,340 units and captured 4.69% of the market share.
Similarly, the Triumph 400 (Speed + Scrambler) achieved a staggering 550.10% growth compared to its previous limited sales, selling 3,101 units and capturing 4.36% market share. Triumph will launch a new 400cc motorcycle later this year. Royal Enfield’s new model Guerrilla also performed strongly, selling 1,469 units and capturing 2.06% market share.
Meanwhile, Harley-Davidson X440 reported sales of 816 units, accounting for 1.15%. While new models are in demand, several established motorcycles are facing challenges. Royal Enfield Himalayan sales fell by 12.68%, with 2,769 units sold in July 2024.

Similarly, Honda H’Ness 350 also experienced a sharp year-on-year decline of 62.55%, with sales falling from 3,509 units in July 2023 to 1,314 units. KTM 390 also struggled, with a year-on-year decline of 47.15%, with 593 units sold in July 2024, 529 units less than the previous year. Moreover, Bajaj Dominar 400 sales fell slightly by 4.45%, with 580 units sold.
Models such as the Aprilia RS 457, Hero Mavrick and Husqvarna 401 performed well, albeit in smaller sales. The Aprilia RS 457 sold 455 units, while the Hero Mavrick and Husqvarna 401 sold 269 and 35 units respectively. The Kawasaki ZX-4R sold only three units, while the Kawasaki Eliminator 400 had zero sales in July 2024, down from 42 units in July 2023.
