Scout teases new electric pickup truck and SUV to debut on October 24
  • Scout has released new teaser images of their upcoming trucks and SUVs.
  • The models will be unveiled on October 24th at 4:00 pm CDT in Franklin, Tennessee.
  • Nearly 44 years have passed since production of “Scout” ended in 1980.

The last International Harvester Scout rolled off the assembly line in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1980 after nearly two decades of production. Volkswagen-owned Scout Motors is currently targeting a triumphant return on October 24, nearly 44 years after the final model was produced.

It’s an eternity in the automotive world, and the company is trying to drum up excitement by releasing new teaser images of its “rugged” trucks and SUVs. The company is keeping details under wraps, but both models appear to have similar front ends, with a prominent bumper and horizontal bars on the grille.

They’re connected by a relatively flat hood that echoes the one on the Ford Mustang. Other details are hard to make out, but the SUV has a Range Rover-esque silhouette with an angular rear end and pronounced bumpers.

The pickup, on the other hand, has a flatter roof and crew cab configuration. We also see a large bed and an upright rear window.

We’ll know the full details soon, but the company reached out to its supporters to thank them for keeping “the Scout spirit alive from generation to generation.” The electric car brand went on to say that this moment would not have been possible without them.

That sentiment is echoed in a new promotional video called “Encore.” It pays tribute to the “passionate community of makers, dreamers and restorers” who have carried the Scout torch for the past 44 years. While there are no new models in the video, it’s full of nostalgia, and that’s something the brand wants to capitalize on.

Production is expected to begin in 2026, and officials have previously suggested a starting price of about $50,000. If the company can pull that off, the models would significantly undercut GMC’s Hummer EV lineup, which plays in a similar sandbox.
