China Baowu Steel Expo Center, EDGE Design + MCC CCID, the protection, activation and reuse of traditional industrial heritage has always been an unavoidable issue in the process of urban renewal and industrial upgrading in many cities in China. This design through the design and practice. of space transformation, facility updating and functional layout of the calcined blast furnace of the original Shanghai No.1 Steel Plant, we try to explore a regeneration path that matches the industrial heritage with the context of the times. In order to ensure that the east facade of the blast furnace serves as the main facade, the team optimized the auxiliary buildings and facilities on the east side of the blast furnace to create a “Glory Plaza” that integrates distribution, landscape and cultural presentation. functions and embellished it with several steel-themed art sculptures and sketches. As for the hot blast furnaces, gravity dust removal and other facilities on the west side of the site, the design team chose to mainly retain and repair them, supplemented by three-dimensional greenery and lighting effects, in order to maintain their “industrial flavor” for the maximum extent.
