We at Carscoops really like the Ford F-150 Raptor R. Ford didn’t have to make such a crazy pickup truck, especially as the industry geared toward electric and hybrid vehicles, but it did and we’re forever grateful. However, Shelby American may just be one step ahead of Ford with its latest F-150 Baja Raptor.

The company has been selling modified versions of the F-150 Raptor since 2013 and has expanded its fleet with new V6- and V8-powered Baja Raptor models. Both take the standard F-150 Raptor and Raptor-R to new heights with multiple performance upgrades and styling changes, although neither comes cheap. The Baja package for the “regular” F-150 Raptor costs $61,995, while Raptor R owners can upgrade to $64,995.

To make the pickup more capable, Shelby installed a suspension lift kit and added 18-inch flow-forged wheels and 37-inch mud-terrain tires. It then built a custom hood with new air intakes and exhaust tips, custom running boards, a new grille, and revised front and rear steel bumpers.

Perhaps the coolest exterior upgrade is the custom steel chase rack in the bed, which includes a powered 50-inch LED light bar and a full-size spare tire holder.
Shelby then worked his magic on the standard Raptor and Raptor R powertrains. Models equipped with the regular 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine get a new heat shield, performance air intake and aluminum intercooler, resulting in a strong 550 horsepower. Raptor R owners equipped with the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine can install a new 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger to produce an impressive 900 horsepower.
The interior seats have been reupholstered in a black and red leather combination with special embroidery on the headrests. Shelby also installed billet racing running boards and a serialized dash.
All Shelby Baja Raptor packages include a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty.
