Skoda Kylaq rolls off the production line in India

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has started production of the much-awaited Skoda Kylaq at its Chakan manufacturing plant, marking a major milestone in the brand’s India market strategy. The Skoda Kylaq is the fifth model developed on the MQB-A0-IN platform, underscoring the company’s commitment to localization and innovation under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Expand manufacturing capabilities

In order to accommodate the production of Kylaq, SAVWIPL increased its production capacity by 30%, with annual output reaching 255,000 vehicles. The line now runs at an impressive rate of 40 jobs per hour (JPH), reflecting increased operational efficiency. This development not only highlights the company’s focus on advanced manufacturing processes but also supports the growing demand for compact SUVs in India.

Skoda Kylaq embodies the fusion of global design principles and environmentally friendly practices. The use of bamboo fiber in the interior highlights Skoda’s commitment to sustainability. The market responded positively

Kylaq has attracted considerable attention since its world premiere and Covered Drive event. Priced at an attractive price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), this compact SUV is expected to redefine the sub-4 meter segment with its strong engineering, innovative features and high safety standards. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in January 2025 and the vehicle is already generating strong demand among potential buyers.

Expand network to enhance support

To cater to its growing customer base, SAVWIPL plans to expand its sales and service network to 350 locations by 2025, focusing on tier-II and tier-III cities. The expansion is aimed at providing better access and support to customers across India.
