Skoda Kylaq tested ahead of world premiere; show

New spy shots of the upcoming Skoda Kylaq have surfaced online, giving us a glimpse of the side and rear of the SUV. The test mule is completely camouflaged, but we can tell it has black alloy wheels and silver roof rails. And the taillights look like an inverted L shape. While the price is still unknown, Skoda has revealed some important details about the SUV ahead of its global launch on November 6. The upcoming car is 3,995 mm long, has a wheelbase of 2,566 mm and has a ground clearance of 189 mm. Skoda Kylaq: Powertrain

The Kylaq is confirmed to be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a peak power output of 114bhp and a maximum torque of 178Nm. The unit is available with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter. As part of Skoda’s strategy, the new SUV will be based on the MQB A0-IN platform, which also underpins cars such as the Slavia, Taigun and Kushaq.

Internal details are currently unknown. However, market reports indicate that Skoda’s upcoming sub-4m SUV will feature a single-pane sunroof, 10.1-inch touchscreen, 8-inch digital driver display, three-point seat belts and reminder, automatic air conditioning with rear vents, USB Type- C charging port, leatherette upholstery, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air purifier and six-way adjustable ventilated front seats.

Skoda Kylaq: expected price

The Skoda Kylaq is likely to be priced between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 14 lakh (both ex-showroom). It will compete with Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Hyundai Venue.
