Lexus and luxury appliance brands Monogram has transformed the 2024 GX SUV into a mobile pizza kitchen. The concept, which will be unveiled at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado, on June 14, opens the rear doors to reveal a 30-inch electric oven that functions like a wood-fired pizza oven, according to a Lexus press release. It shares space in the cargo area with a plating station that includes utensils and a trash can.
For beverages, the GX also features a wet bar with cutlery, bitters, glassware, a folding cutting board and a heated ice maker that creates spherical ice cubes to chill bourbon. Cutouts in the exterior panels accommodate wine and bourbon bottles, as well as additional glassware for quick refills. Refrigerated storage bins in the cargo area and rear-seat console complete the conversion.
The interior is a mix of limousine and suburban kitchen styles. Two-tone leather upholstery covers everything from the seats to around the pizza oven. Brass, titanium, and Dekton Slate accents are featured. The exterior features custom wheels and brass trim for the door handles and roof rack.
Redesigned for the 2024 model year, the GX features body-on-frame construction (similar to the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser) and angular styling. The old 4.6-liter V8 has been replaced by a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 rated at 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Full-time all-wheel drive with a 2-speed transfer case and an optional Torsen limited-slip center differential maintains off-road capability.
This is the first redesign of the GX in 14 years, but it was worth the wait. The new GX takes aim at Land Rover, offering similar off-road capability and on-road driving dynamics at a lower price. Granted, there’s still room for improvement in the off-road department, and we found the GX a bit cumbersome to tow. But can you name a competitor that can get there in 30 minutes or less?
