The one-of-a-kind “Shaguar”, a 1967 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, was used on all three cars Austin Powers film, will be auctioned this January by Mecum Auctions. For die-hard fans of the series, this is your chance to own one of the most famous E-Type movie cars.
Interestingly, unlike many movie cars, which often have replicas used for stunt work or close-ups, this E-Type is one and only Used during film production. Mecum said that after the film star, the car has been part of a private collection since the filming of the film and is occasionally loaned to Jaguar Land Rover for company events. It’s worth noting that Jaguar Land Rover gave it a full restoration in the mid-2000s and more recently a mechanical restoration.
Worn but well preserved
A check of the odometer revealed that the E-Type had more than 63,900 miles (approximately 103,000 kilometers) on it. The interior does show a lot of signs of wear befitting a car of this period, but all things considered it appears to be in relatively good condition. It retains original parts, including the AM/FM radio and various buttons and switches on the dash.
Under the long bonnet sits Jaguar’s 4.2-liter naturally aspirated inline-six engine, mated to a four-speed manual gearbox, sending power to the rear wheels. This setup reminds you why the E-Type remains one of the most famous sports cars of all time – a driver’s machine that prioritizes engagement over modern gimmicks.
