The automaker initially suspended production of the 500e in the second week of September, announcing it would stop production for four weeks until October 11. However, it was later confirmed that this date had been postponed to November 1. The lack of demand for the 500e has previously been blamed on broader difficulties in the electric car market across Europe.

Although few people are buying the 500e, Stellantis isn’t giving up on it. Tavares will “provide the most detailed information on the group’s car production in Italy,” the brand said in a statement, adding that “the complex international and European situation in the automotive industry requires a rapid response.”
