Suzuki GSX-8R priced at Rs 9.25 lakh in India with 82 hp

Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched the new GSX-8R middleweight sports motorcycle, which will make its world premiere at EICMA 2023. The Suzuki GSX-8R is priced at Rs 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in three color options – Metallic Matte Sword Silver, Metallic Matte Blue and Metallic Matte Black No. 2. The bike will be available at all Suzuki Bike Zone dealerships nationwide. The GSX-8R adopts a full fairing design to pay tribute to the GSX-R. The vertically stacked LED headlight clusters feature single-focus LED light technology. Its aerodynamically shaped body is designed to maximize performance by improving airflow. This sport bike features forged aluminum individual handlebars and lightweight cast aluminum wheels measuring 17 inches on each end. The wheels are wrapped in Dunlop RoadSport 2 radial tires.

Additionally, the headlight housing and windshield have been redesigned. Suzuki says both have undergone extensive wind tunnel testing to improve high-speed stability and reduce wind noise and buffeting. The cowl-mounted rearview mirrors are sharp, offering better wind protection and enhanced aerodynamics. The bike also features a slim rear end that integrates compact LED combination lights and a fender-mounted LED license plate light. In terms of features, the GSX-8R offers a 5.0-inch color TFT display, ride-by-wire, low-rpm assist, bi-directional quick shifter, traction control, anti-lock braking system (ABS), easy start and ride mode.

Suzuki GSX-8R: Powertrain, Hardware

The GSX-8R is equipped with a 776cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that produces 81.8bhp at 8,500rpm and 78Nm of peak torque at 6,800rpm. The engine also powers the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an assist slipper clutch. A two-into-one exhaust system is also available.

In terms of chassis, the Suzuki GSX-8R uses a steel diamond unit, and the suspension uses Showa SFF-BP inverted front forks and Showa link-type rear monoshock absorbers with preload adjustment. The braking setup is a combination of dual 310mm front discs and a single 240mm rear disc.

The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 14 liters and a curb weight of 205 kg. In terms of market competition, the GSX-8R will go up against the Triumph Daytona 660 and Kawasaki Ninja 650.
