Mazda recalls CX-70 and CX-90 SUVs
More than 150,000 2024-2025 model year SUVs are being recalled due to a variety of issues. November 4, 2024 — Mazda has recalled the CX-70 and CX-90 SUVs, involving more than 150,000 vehicles, over different issues. In the first recall, 2024-2025 Mazda CX-90 and 2025 Mazda CX-70 SUVs may experience issues with the defroster and seat belt warning lights. Software programming issues with the dashboard power supply may cause errors when starting the vehicle. Multiple warning messages will be displayed in the instrument panel, and the defroster, seat belt warning and 360° view monitoring functions may be disabled. Mazda also said the engine warning light may come on and the hybrid high-voltage battery cooling system may not function properly. According to Mazda, there have been no reports of collisions or injuries. Mazda CX-70 and Mazda CX-90 owners will receive recall letters in the mail, but the automakers have not said when they will be mailed. Mazda owners can call 800-222-5500.…
Lawsuit says Ford backup camera recall program failed
Included are the 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, and 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair. August 18, 2024 — Ford's backup camera recall allegedly failed to do what a recall should have done: fix the vehicles. That's the focus of Ford's class-action lawsuit, which alleges that the backup camera system fails to display a rear-view image when the vehicle is in reverse. Instead, the backup camera display will appear blue, black, or blank. Photos of the blue display were provided by the owner who filed the lawsuit. The class action lawsuit involves 2020 to 2023 Ford Explorers, 2020 to 2023 Lincoln Aviators and 2020 to 2022 Lincoln Corsairs equipped with 360-degree camera systems. According to the lawsuit, the 360-degree camera system was offered as an additional upgrade for an additional fee. Not only does the camera system function as a backup camera (which is required by federal law), but the 360-degree version also allows the driver to see all around the vehicle.…

July 1, 2024 — Ford's backup camera recall program is said to have failed and would apply to customers who bought Ford and Lincoln vehicles in New Jersey. According to the class action lawsuit, the 360-degree camera system was defective and frequently malfunctioned. These defects cause the backup camera to malfunction, with the image appearing blue, black or blank. The Ford class action lawsuit includes: “Everyone who purchased or leased one or more of the following vehicles equipped with a 360-degree camera system in New Jersey during the applicable restricted period: a 2020-2023 Ford Explorer, a 2020-2023 Lincoln Aviator, and/or a 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair.” Ford allegedly knew or should have known about the flaws in the 360-degree camera systems before the vehicles were first advertised.
