A great way to enjoy the change of seasons is to cruise around in a convertible, like this 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible. Chevrolet introduced the next generation Impala for the 1965 model year. The 1966 Impala received a restyled front fender, grille, bumper and wraparound taillights. This '66 SS convertible is a vintage restoration that benefits from factory refinements as well as some more modern updates, such as a 454ci V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor and a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, which replaced the original Powerglide two-speed unit. AutoHunter Spotlight: 1969 Plymouth Road Runner

Featured Car Hunter Networkan online auction platform operated by ClassicCars.com, is auctioning this 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. The Road Runner is one of the true icons of the Mopar muscle car. By the late 1960s, the perception of muscle cars as cheap performance cars had changed, and over the years these cars became increasingly expensive. Plymouth introduced the Road Runner as a return to a simpler, more basic, more affordable high-performance midsize car. Plymouth paid Warner Bros. $50,000 for the use of the Road Runner name, the "beep" horn, and the cartoon characters of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. In addition, Plymouth paid $10,000 to develop the horn. The Road Runner featured here is powered by a reportedly numbers-matching 383ci V8 engine mated to a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. It's finished in special-order Omaha Orange paint with a black vinyl interior and is being offered now by the selling dealer with a clear title. The car features power…

Chrysler documentary shows development of the K-Car

Horsepower might be sold. But it wasn't always about making money. Chrysler certainly had its high-volume hits, but as many manufacturers have discovered at different times in history, they realized that small, affordable, economical cars were also important. As the 1980 video below shows, the "K-Car Superstar" was a mid-size car. Chrysler not only needed to develop an improved successor to its L-series front-wheel-drive models, but also needed to produce a car that could compete with Japanese imports. They began to formulate goals for the new two-door, sedan, and wagon K-model cars in early 1977: Spacious interior space and comfort Precise driving and control Significant fuel savings Excellent overall quality Aerodynamic styling Once development began, Chrysler built full-scale models, then used computer-controlled scanners to map the models, and then converted those scans into blueprints. The final body shape was honed in a wind tunnel, reducing drag by 20 percent over the previous model. As part of durability testing, the company…

Today’s Pick: 1972 Buick Riviera

this Daily Selection yes A 1972 Buick Riviera is listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Alabama. The third-generation Buick Riviera got me hooked. That was about 20 years ago, when I was a student at the University of Texas at Austin. I was as obsessed with cars then as I am now, but my horizons were much narrower. I was primarily drawn to new European and exotic cars, although I also enjoyed driving around with my best friend, Jacob, in his Honda S2000. While domestic cars from the 1950s and 1960s were part of my childhood, I had yet to develop a greater appreciation for the American cars of the past. That changed one afternoon when I was walking around the University of Texas campus. A classmate of mine roared down the street in a car I had never seen before. It was a huge, hulking car with a candy-like burnt orange paint job. I knew it…
