Moose crashes BMW workshop, wages war on restored E31 850i
The shop owner had to make a rather embarrassing call to the owner of the BMW that was being restored at the time. go through Brad Anderson November 19, 2024 15:09 It's unclear how the moose ended up at Schmidmann's facility in Sweden. A BMW 850i was being restored in a garage when the animal attacked. Another E31 850i and an E36 3-Series were also damaged. A freshly painted E31 BMW 850i is in need of some pretty major bodywork in Sweden, but not because it was involved in some kind of accident. Instead, the prized two-door coupe was trampled by an out-of-control moose and caused serious damage to a Swedish mechanic shop earlier this month. The bizarre incident occurred at Swedish company Schmidmann, a BMW and Mini parts specialist. According to an employee at the factory, the company's CEO Viktor Örtegren was visiting the factory over the weekend and started hearing some knocking sounds coming from the workshop. He…
BMW M4 CS sells for more than $500,000 in Singapore
With such a hefty price tag, M4 CS models are likely to be rare in the small island nation. go through Brad Anderson 17 hours ago The extreme version of the M4 is lighter and more powerful than the regular M4. Singaporeans must pay more than US$100,000 to obtain a 10-year vehicle license. Buying a regular Toyota Camry Hybrid in Singapore costs more than $180,000. The BMW M4 CS has just arrived in Singapore, and like other markets, it brings a host of performance upgrades over the standard M4. It also comes with a sticker price that makes it almost as expensive in the U.S. as the new Lamborghini Revuelto. Singapore is one of the most expensive countries to buy a car, and anyone looking to buy an M4 CS will have to spend at least S$702,888, which equates to about $523,000 at current exchange rates. To put that into perspective, the M4 CS costs about $125,000 in the United…
Manhart’s 718-horsepower BMW M2 will eat supercars for breakfast
If you're wondering what 718 horsepower would do for an M2, Manhart has you covered go through Brad Anderson 12 hours ago The BMW M2 is arguably the best sports car in the brand's current lineup, a worthy alternative to sports cars like the Porsche Cayman and Mercedes-AMG A45 S. Now, Manhart has made the M2 a car that won't let you down. Let Porsche and Mercedes die, but maybe scare some legitimate supercars. BMW's S58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine normally delivers 473 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque, but thanks to a carbon fiber air intake, stainless steel exhaust with 200-cell catalytic converters , and either a Manhart MHtronik powerbox or a factory ECU remap, power has been boosted to 718 horsepower. Torque also jumps to 664 lb-ft (900 Nm). VW, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche profits at serious risk
Analysts believe Trump's proposed tariffs could cost German brands more than 10% of operating profits go through Chris Chilton 3 hours ago If President-elect Trump imposes new import tariffs, profits for Germany's big automakers could be significantly eroded. Analysts told Handelsblatt that Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes could lose more than 10% of operating profits. Audi and Porsche are in a precarious position because, unlike other brands, they do not have factories within the United States. It’s not just Chinese companies that are bracing for the impact of any import tariffs that Donald Trump might introduce during his presidency. Experts warn that German carmakers should be prepared to lose more than 10% of current operating profits. Although Trump has not yet taken office, let alone imposed any tariffs, he has seriously talked about doing so, and foreign automakers cannot afford to view this as an idle threat. According to Marklines, German brands alone export 583,000 vehicles from Europe to the United…
Australia’s 10 cheapest new V8-powered cars
There was a time when the roar of eight-cylinder engines could be heard across Australia. In particular, a pair of quintessential Australian V8s dominate our roads: the Ford Falcon and the Holden Commodore. But those days are gone, and both of the above models no longer exist. Instead, the Australian car market is now dominated by SUVs and pickup trucks, which feature low-displacement turbocharged powertrains with six cylinders or less. While this won't bother many people (and it certainly hasn't stopped us from flocking to buy new cars), some enthusiast buyers still crave V8 power. Hundreds of new car deals are now available through CarExpert. Get the experts on your side and get big rewards. Browse now. autoX Award 2024: BMW R 1300 GS performance, quality and
2024 autoX Awards: You don't have to reinvent the wheel - this adage rings true if you have something like the mighty GS in your portfolio. No matter what you do, the GS will always be the king of ADV mountains. This is an icon! This is a cult! As GS loyalists will tell you, it's the best of the best and nothing else. But that didn't stop BMW from reinventing the GS wheel. Every time we think the GS has reached its peak and can't possibly be topped again, Motorrad engineers swoop out with a new model and improve it in some way. The new R 1300 GS is proof of that. Everything here is new - the 1,300cc engine, twin-spar chassis, electronics, suspension, even the design. Nothing is carried over except the GS badge. Of course, the star of the show is the 1300cc boxer twin engine, which has a larger bore and shorter stroke than its predecessor.…

Jaguar’s new electric GT looks like a BMW i7, with attitude
Next year's all-electric four-door GT prototype will begin testing on December 2 ahead of concept car debut in Miami go through Chris Chilton 12 hours ago Jaguar has released images of the first of three ultra-luxury electric cars due to be launched by 2030. We'll see the concept car on December 2 before the production car is released next year. Reports suggest that the $130,000 luxury electric sedan will have no rear window, just like the Polestar 4. Jaguar is about to undergo a radical reinvention to become an ultra-luxury all-electric car brand, and these images give us our first look at what to expect when the reborn car hits showrooms next year. autoX Awards 2024: BMW 5 Series performance, quality and
autoX Award 2024: The new generation 5 Series marks a change in BMW's strategy. It arguably places as much, if not more, emphasis on rear-seat comfort, but that comes at a slight compromise in terms of driving. 2024 autoX Awards: The launch of BMW's new 5 Series has had a considerable impact, especially in terms of pricing. On paper, it offers great value for money and offers more space than ever as it is the largest 5 Series model in the Indian market. This is due to BMW launching the new-generation 5 Series long-wheelbase version in India, making India the second country in the world to obtain this model after China. To give you an idea of how big of a difference that is, at least at first glance, the new 5 Series looks almost as big, if not bigger, than the older generation 7 Series. After driving it thoroughly in Delhi earlier this year and later pushing it to…
autoX Awards 2024: BMW CE 04 Performance, Quality and Value
autoX Awards 2024: While the BMW CE 04’s top speed of 120 km/h may not be impressive on the track, its acceleration is – 0 to 50 km/h in just 2.6 seconds. No wonder this is the only scooter to score points in a single lap time. 2024 autoX Awards: Whether we like it or not, the future is moving toward electrification. There’s no better proof of this than the launch of a cosmetic scooter from BMW worth over Rs 15 lakh – say hello to the CE 04! That's what makes it more interesting. It's powered by an electric motor from the X3 xDrive30e plug-in hybrid, producing 42 hp and 62 Nm of torque. Unlike most scooters, BMW mounts the motor directly to the chassis, ensuring a more stable and lightweight ride. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a toothed belt transmission. Despite weighing over 226 kg, the CE 04 is still easy to control. Its wheelbase…
Pick of the Day: 2000 BMW Z3
let me start I said I love the BMW Z3 and I personally own one, so I'm a bit biased towards these cars. In fact, I think the Z3 is the best modern version of an old roadster ever made. Yes, Mazda still sells Miatas, but a 20-plus-year-old Z3 still feels better than any Miata I've driven (especially the interior). That's my opinion, but it's based on spending a lot of time in each vehicle. The Z3's materials were better, the car felt more solid, and the options far exceeded what Mazda was offering at the time. The reason is simple: the Z3 is a much more expensive car than the Miata, and the BMW can do things the Mazda can't do at the same price point. BMW's main focus was that while this car was powered by the M44 1.9 liter I4, a number of really great BMW I6 engines soon followed, making the Z3 a car with more…
2027 BMW 3 Series: New-level styling meets old-school ICE
Next-gen BMW 3 Series looks similar to all-electric i3 sedan, but is expected to ride on different underpinnings November 14, 2024 12:45 BMW's next-generation 3 Series prototype is undergoing testing in Germany. This ICE-powered sedan features Neue Klasse design and looks sportier than before. A different instrument-to-axle ratio is what sets it apart from the all-electric BMW i3. BMW has officially begun testing the next generation of its compact luxury sedan, which will be available with all-electric and combustion engines under the i3 and 3 Series nameplates respectively. Sound familiar? That's because it mirrors the approach BMW has taken with the larger i5 and 5 Series duo. autoX Award 2024: BMW CE 02 Performance, Quality and Value
2024 autoX Awards: Is it a scooter? No. Is it a motorcycle? No sir. So, what exactly is it? Well, it's the CE 02, which BMW calls the eParkourer, which to us seems like a made-up term for a non-existent product. That said, it's very unique and looks pretty cool. And, boy, does it show that! The CE 02 is an electric two-wheeler that arrives to challenge the status quo. Obviously, it's not for the masses. We must add that its target audience is the stylish, cool, wealthy people who want to commute short distances on a two-wheeler as the equivalent of a fashion accessory. The fact that it wears a BMW badge and has green credentials adds to its appeal. With its boxy, simple, clean design, coupled with stylish elements such as a sleek TFT display, and a variety of color tones on the body, it's certainly an eye-catcher. It's got a ton of X-factor, that's all. Driving fast…
BMW i3 Neue Klasse sedan debuts

The electric car sibling of the BMW 3 Series will use the Neue Klasse architecture. The sedan is expected to debut in 2026, a year after the closely related iX3 SUV. BMW's Neue Klasse program marks a key chapter for the Bavarian brand, which is expected to launch at least six fully electric models by 2028. It is scheduled to go on sale in 2026, a year after the iX3 SUV. Now, for the first time, we've spotted a prototype undergoing actual testing. This camouflaged test car has appeared on public roads in Germany and is…
BMW owner misses $1.9 million in winnings
BMW has denied a new trial in which a jury placed all blame on BMW after the driver lost his thumb inside the door. November 11, 2024 — BMW has been denied a new trial in a case in which a jury awarded $1.9 million to a car owner whose thumb was amputated when he placed it in the path of a car door. The lawsuit was filed over alleged dangers of BMW's soft-closing doors. “In tight parking spaces or when a door needs to be closed gently, the automatic soft-close function helps: just push the door until it is almost closed. When the door is approximately 6 mm from the lock, the sensor activates the electric motor to close the door firmly and quietly and secured, the door lock components will automatically return to their original positions.” — BMW Plaintiff Godwin Boateng said that in July 2016, when he got out of his 2013 BMW X5 xDrive35i Sport, he…
BMW M3 driver tries to hit wall
Luckily no spectators appeared to be harmed when BMW driver lost control in Florida go through Brad Anderson November 8, 2024 07:45 The sports sedan went off the road and suffered severe damage to its rear fascia. It appears the driver made an unwise decision to turn off the traction control system. There is no doubt that the G80 BMW M3 is an absolute weapon, especially in competition or CS competition, and can pick up speed at an alarming rate. Of course, the caveat is that it requires a level of respect and precision driving that some drivers don't seem capable of. Like the driver of this M3, he clearly overestimated his skills and the car's willingness to forgive stupidity. This gorgeous royal blue G80 M3 was recently photographed driving in Orlando, Florida, and for some reason the driver thought it would be a good idea to try a burnout in the middle of the road, but the method here…
Pick of the Day: 2003 BMW Alpina Roadster V8
last week i got Get the chance to drive an amazing car during the Hilton Head Racing Weekend. The car is an Alpina V8 Roadster. Yes, this car is a BMW Z8, but when it was built in Alpina form, it was called a V8 Roadster. It has all the incredible hand-built quality of the standard Z8, but changes the suspension, engine, wheels, gearbox and some internal parts to Alpina-supplied parts. The springs inside are the same as the regular Z8, but the shock absorbers have different valving for a more comfortable ride, and the engine isn't the S62 from the E39 M5, but a heavily modified M62 V8 - the house of Alpina. Additionally, it doesn’t have a six-speed manual gearbox, but a five-speed automatic. While this sounds bad, it actually makes this RV more practical and easier to drive in day-to-day use. Total production of the Alpina V8 roadster version of the Z8 was only 555 units, making…

BMW M5 Touring review: Is it worth the weight?
We drove BMW's new M5 Touring for the first time and experienced its power and handling firsthand. BMW hasn't produced an M5 wagon since 2010, the first wagon on the North American market. The Touring comes with the same 717-horsepower PHEV V8 powertrain we tried in the M5 sedan. When BMW launched the new generation M5, the automotive world immediately took notice. But there's another reason to be excited this time around, and that's the launch of a travel version. BMW has offered M5 Tourings in the past, but not since 2010 and never in the United States. We'll probably have to wait until early next year to try one in North America, but we did get a chance to drive a station wagon in Germany, where we recently drove this car's sedan sibling. Nearly everything we like and dislike about the $120,675 sedan is replicated in the $122,675 wagon. That's not surprising, as they share the same 4.0-liter V8…

BMW E30 M3 redesigned to pay homage to modern new class
Who would have thought that BMW's future design language would look so good on the E30? go through Brad Anderson 1 hour ago A design student has redesigned the BMW E30 M3, blending classic lines with Neue Klasse style. Modern LED headlights and taillights have a huge impact on the overall design of a car. BMW's Neue Klasse design language will shape the look of its upcoming EV and ICE models. Few BMW models are more universally loved than the E30-generation M3. Originally designed to meet DTM and Group A Touring regulations, the E30 M3 is still considered by some fans to be the best M race car of all time. BMW 1 Series gets double roasted by G80 M3
The 1 Series wasn't pretty from the start, and the huge grille really looked out of place. go through Brad Anderson October 29, 2024 13:10 BMW's "double-coffin" grille has caused a lot of controversy since it was first introduced on the G80 M3. This strange 116i also comes with a set of gloss black aftermarket wheels. Most people aren't fans of the G80-generation BMW M3's massive coffin-shaped kidney grille, but the owner of this 1 Series is clearly a car enthusiast who used it as inspiration when creating a custom body kit for his car. The peculiar 1 Series you see has been listed for sale across Tanzania for 10,800,000 shillings (approximately $4,650), and while it appears to be mostly stock, it has had some modifications. This is mostly limited to the front end, where the grille, air intakes and bumper are inspired by the G80 M3. Read: New BMW 1 Series looks like Kia wants to be BMW First,…
Train nearly hits BMW police car, trapped on tracks
An Australian police car has run off the road and crashed into train tracks in western Sydney. BMW Highway Patrol were following a motorcycle when the driver missed the roundabout. CCTV footage captured the incident, with the dirt bike rider fleeing the scene. A police chase in New South Wales, Australia, got worse - quite literally - when officers misjudged a roundabout while following an off-road vehicle and ended up getting stuck on train tracks. BMW diesel class action settlement approved
2009-2013 BMW X5 xDrive35d and 2009-2011 BMW 335d vehicles are included in the emissions settlement. October 27, 2024 — The BMW diesel class action settlement has received final approval for customers of 2009-2013 BMW X5 xDrive35d or 2009-2011 BMW 335d vehicles. The BMW class action lawsuit alleges that diesel vehicles were equipped with emissions suppression devices made by Bosch. The lawsuit is one of many filed against multiple automakers after Volkswagen was found to have cheated on emissions tests. The BMW lawsuit alleges that the vehicles passed official emissions tests, but in real-world driving, the illegal defeat devices caused the vehicles to emit illegal levels of pollutants. BMW fought the class-action lawsuit for five years before it was dismissed outright. In the 459-page lawsuit, the suing BMW owners told the court that BMW should order a recall or establish a "free replacement program" to replace all allegedly defective vehicles. The plaintiffs also told the judge they should have the option…
We turned Alpine’s A390_β concept car into a BMW i4-Fighting
Forget crossovers, we believe the Alpine Sport Sedan will be a tastier way to rip through the canyons go through Josh Burns 1 hour ago While Alpine is chasing sales with the new A390_β SUV, we think a sports sedan better represents the brand. Dual electric motors with V2G capabilities offer an ideal combination of performance and sustainability. Key competitors in the electric sedan market include the BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3 Performance. The consensus is loud and clear - as evidenced by our comments section, most of you don't agree with Alpine's production-intended concept A390_β. The French brand's PR team can call it a "sporty fastback" all they want, but the plastic cladding doesn't lie. It's a crossover through and through, going against the grain of the sports car maker's heritage. How BMW M3 E92 repair costs soared to $2,300
One BMW owner finally agreed to pay an extra $10,000 for repairs at the dealer's suggestion October 26, 2024 14:20 The recently launched BMW M3 gives us a glimpse into the true cost of ownership. The seller initially took the car to the dealer for inspection due to an oil leak and some TPMS sensor issues. After receiving an initial estimate of $2,326.53, they came up with a final bill of $11,989.12. The E92 BMW M3 is arguably the unicorn of the M3 family, and it owes this status to a very special feature: its naturally aspirated V8 engine. This generation marked the first and only time that BMW engineers integrated an eight-cylinder powerplant into the M3, creating a beast with 414 horsepower. Add in the options of a manual transmission and the factory Competition Package, and you have a car that is truly a car enthusiast's dream. This specific example? Review: 2025 BMW M5 Hybrid packs a serious punch
The most famous sleeper sedan in the world, the BMW M5 is a handsome sedan that can outperform many sports cars when the road curves, then transforms back into a refined business express when the curve straightens out. But the seventh-generation M5 is even more feature-rich. The 2025 super sedan is all-new, and it's no longer just a sedan. After a 15-year hiatus, the station wagon option is back in BMW's catalog, and this time the Touring is also available in the United States, which goes some way to making up for BMW NA's decision not to import the M3 Touring. The other big news is the M5's first hybrid engine, priced at $119,500. The plug-in hardware boosts power significantly and provides the opportunity to drive in EV mode, but it also increases the M5's curb weight to 5,390 pounds (2,435 kilograms). Will this ruin the driving experience? We jumped behind the wheel of a sedan to find out. Quick…

Holden's Torana is set to make a comeback as a hot rod, but we explore what it would have been like as a factory model if the brand had survived go through Josh Burns October 19, 2024 19:21 The Torana A9X sits alongside Ford's XY Falcon GTHO Phase III as one of Australia's most iconic estate cars. While most car enthusiasts outside of Australia are familiar with names such as the Holden Monaro and Commodore and the Ford Falcon, the Holden Torana remains a little-known piece of Australian car lore - despite GM's last attempt with the Torana TT36 to revive the name. The concept was proposed as early as 2004. Yet despite its low profile on the global stage, its high-performance variants are often hailed as one of…
The theme of the fifth annual Chattanooga Car Festival is
many people say The car hobby isn't really about the cars, it's about the people who own them. No event I can think of exemplifies this better than the Chattanooga Car Festival. The event is the brainchild of Byron DeFoor and Brian Johnson. From the beginning, their focus was different. Rather than being held on a traditional golf course, it's held in the downtown Chattanooga area. Some people enjoy seeing cars on a golf course, but personally, it's nice to see cars in a well-displayed, well-curated way on a downtown street (which is a more natural setting for them) Special. The three-day Chattanooga Car Festival kicks off Friday, October 11, with a small gathering of cars, workshops with the likes of Patrick Long and Jeff Zwart, live music and street vendors. The car clubs came together on Saturday for the first ever full layout of the Porsche-themed Luftgekühlt, with a carefully curated display of dozens of Ferraris, as well as…

Pick of the Day: 2006 BMW M5
