Land Rover recalls Range Rover due to production shutdown hazard
Nearly 17,000 Range Rovers are being recalled due to a cracked upper steering knuckle joint. December 3, 2024 — Nearly 17,000 Range Rovers are being recalled because the knuckle joints on the front suspension can crack and cause the suspension arms to separate. Recalled 2014-2016 Range Rovers may experience steering and stability issues if the suspension arms separate. In 2019, a Range Rover suffered a front suspension steering knuckle failure while driving at low speeds. Due to similar reports in Canada, Land Rover was contacted by Transport Canada, and more accidents followed. Engineers determined that the use of road salt would cause the steering knuckle to fail. Land Rover has received 12 claims over the past nine years, but no collisions or injuries have been reported. Land Rover dealers will inspect the front suspension knuckles and install mounting brackets, or possibly replace the knuckles. Toyota RAV4 and Lexus NX wheels may come off
Toyota and Lexus dealers will need to tighten the bolts and possibly repair the damaged parts. December 6, 2024 — Toyota RAV4 and Lexus NX vehicles built in September 2024 may have their front wheels detached. In addition to wheels coming off, the front brake calipers may also come off. The recall only affects 80 2024 Toyota RAV4 vehicles and 2025 Lexus NX vehicles in the United States and Canada. According to Toyota, some bolts may not be tightened properly and may loosen over time. If the front caliper falls off, expect braking problems; if the wheel falls off while driving, expect pure hell. Toyota hasn't released much information, but owners will be contacted about the recall in February 2025. Dealers will ensure that the front brake caliper mounting bracket and wheel bearing bolts are tight. But any damaged parts around the wheels will be replaced. Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 recalled due to camera issues
Ford is recalling 30,000 trucks equipped with overhead rearview cameras that may be affected by water. November 4, 2024 — Ford truck tailgate camera issues have led to a recall of 2023-2024 Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 trucks. The recall involves 30,000 trucks. Water may enter the tailgate parking assist sensor interface module, causing the rearview camera image to appear part of the time or possibly appear blue or black. In February, a supplier noticed a black screen on the top of the tailgate camera. Engineers investigated and determined that water may have entered the interface between the connector for the camera on top of the tailgate and the mating connector interface seal on the coaxial cable. August 19, 2024 — The investigation into Toyota RAV4 battery fires has concluded based on the fix Toyota has implemented for the 12-volt battery problem. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a federal RAV4 investigation in February 2021 after receiving reports of 11 engine compartment fires in 2013 to 2018 Toyota RAV4 SUVs. The fire appeared to be caused by the 12-volt battery, and NHTSA suspected an electrical short between the 12V battery's B+ terminal and the frame that holds the battery. Seven RAV4s caught fire while being driven and four caught fire while parked. However, none of the fires were related to the original 12-volt RAV4 battery.
