September 2, 2024 — The GM transmission class action lawsuit will continue against customers in 26 states who drive Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles equipped with 8L45 and 8L90 automatic transmissions. Initially, the lawsuit alleged a single defect in the transmission, but now the plaintiffs claim the transmission has two separate issues. GM Canada settles ignition switch lawsuit

In 2014, GM vehicles were recalled in Canada due to an ignition switch defect. July 29, 2024 — General Motors Canada will settle an ignition switch class action lawsuit if a court approves the settlement within days. At least 15 lawsuits have been filed in response to the ignition switch recall announced in 2014. The plaintiffs claim that GM owes Canadian consumers compensation for economic losses claimed by owners or lessees of vehicles recalled in 2014. The settlement agreement says the recall involves Delta ignition systems, key rotation systems, Camaro knee keys and electric power steering systems. These models were recalled due to ignition switch problems and are also involved in the class action lawsuit.
