That year, Goldfinger was released, a film that's a regular on lists of the best James Bond films of all time. Not only did it feature a unique henchman (Oddjob), a wealthy villain with an iconic name (Auric Goldfinger), and an over-the-top plot (irradiating the gold at Fort Knox to multiply the value of Goldfinger's stock), but it also featured the first true "Bond car." Yes, 007 drove different cars in the first two films, but none of them had the looks of an Aston Martin DB5, or—most importantly—the gadgets (unless you count the car phone in Bond's Bentley in From Russia With Love).
