It is said that the Honda i-VTEC turbo engine has a cylinder head gasket problem. December 17, 2024 — Honda class action lawsuit questions reliability of California's 1.5-liter turbo i-VTEC gasoline direct-injection engine. The lawsuit alleges that turbine engine coolant collected in grooves in the engine's cylinder head and damaged the head gasket, causing coolant to leak into the cylinder. The Honda class action lawsuit includes: "All current and former owners or lessees of such vehicles purchased or leased in California." These vehicle classes include models equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged i-VTEC engine: 2018-2022 Honda Accord 2016-2022 Honda Civic 2017-2022 Honda CR-V According to the turbine engine class action lawsuit, the defect is caused by "the design and/or manufacture of the engine block and cylinder head, including the use of an inappropriate cylinder head gasket or other sealing compound or feature on the cylinder head."
