Porsche Taycan batteries recalled due to fire risk
Porsche is recalling about 28,000 Taycan vehicles because a short circuit could cause the batteries to catch fire. October 9, 2024 — Nearly 28,000 Porsche Taycans are being recalled because a short circuit in the high-voltage battery module could cause a fire. The recall is for certain 2020-2024 Porsche Taycan SUVs. This recall is an extension of the previous Taycan battery fire recall. Taycan drivers receive no advance warning if there is a problem with the battery. Porsche has been monitoring the Taycan due to previous recalls and decided in September that a recall was needed. Porsche said final fixes to the battery fire risk could occur in the first quarter of 2025. Porsche dealers will install diagnostic software and monitor vehicle data, contacting Taycan owners if needed. Jaguar recalls 2019 I-PACE again due to battery fires
About 2,800 Jaguar I-PACE SUVs have been recalled, but vehicles continue to catch fire. August 30, 2024 — Jaguar is recalling its 2019 Jaguar I-PACE SUVs due to overheating of the high-voltage battery, which could lead to fires. Nearly 2,800 2019 all-electric I-PACE vehicles are being recalled, with owners warned to park and charge their SUVs outdoors, away from objects that could catch fire. The warning applies before the I-PACE SUV is serviced by a dealer and for 30 days after service. The 2019 Jaguar I-PACE SUV was recalled in the past due to the same battery fire risk. In May 2023, Jaguar's 2019-2024 I-PACE vehicles were recalled after eight battery fires were reported. July 9, 2024 — Federal safety regulators have initiated a Jeep Wrangler 4xe recall inquiry (recall investigation) after receiving 68 complaints about the 2021-2024 Wrangler Hybrid. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation into the Jeep Wrangler 4xe recall announced in late 2022. The recall includes 2021 to 2023 model year Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid vehicles equipped with a 2-liter engine that may stall and shut down. At the time, FCA was aware of two Wrangler 4xe accidents, resulting in one injury, that were allegedly caused by the 2-liter engine shutting down in "a diagnostic response to a malfunction caused by a loss of communications." July 19, 2024 — Hyundai's fuel pump recall affects more than 62,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. 2019-2022 Hyundai Veloster N 2019-2023 Hyundai Genesis G70 2022-2023 Hyundai Elantra N 2022-2023 Hyundai Kona N Hyundai has learned that 2,460 fuel pump failures occurred in the United States between May 10, 2019 and June 17, 2024, but there were no reports of crashes, injuries or fires. If the fuel pump fails while driving, the driver will be unable to restart the vehicle. According to Hyundai: "Due to the gradual wear of the fuel control valve (FCV) plunger in the high-pressure fuel pump assembly of the vehicle involved, excessive fuel may enter the fuel pump."
