Ford Fusion Energi class action lawsuit filed in Canada
The Ford Canada lawsuit alleges that 2019-2020 Ford Fusion PHEVs may catch fire due to a defective battery. December 10, 2024 — Owners of 2019-2020 Fusion plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are at risk of losing their vehicles due to fire, a Canadian Ford Fusion Energi class action lawsuit alleges. Ford Canada recalled the vehicles in June 2023. Like all hybrid vehicles, Fusion Energi cars can be driven without charging, but they will use more gas than when charged. "This class action lawsuit involves the negligent and dangerous design, manufacture and installation of the high-voltage battery energy control module in 2019-2020 Ford Fusion PHEV vehicles." Ontario plaintiff Zachary Christou purchased a 2020 Ford Fusion SEL Hybrid in June 2022 to save money on gas. The plaintiff said he spent $655.11 on gasoline in the 12 months before receiving the June 2023 recall notice.
