Original class action lawsuit accuses GM of breaching new car warranty by failing to fix problems go through Brad Anderson November 10, 2024 19:22 General Motors is facing two class-action lawsuits after owners reported ongoing problems with shifter components. If the shifter fails to register Park, the engine cannot shut off, leaving the owner in a difficult situation. A trial date has been set for January 13, 2025, to resolve the ongoing legal dispute. Multiple Chevrolet, GMC and Buick models are now the focus of two U.S. class-action lawsuits alleging serious problems with shifter components that prevent owners from turning off their engines. The problem, which affects several GM models, could put drivers in a dangerous situation if their vehicle fails to properly enter park and refuses to stop, the lawsuit says. The first lawsuit, filed in Memphis, Tenn., alleges that some GM vehicles have a "Shift to Park" message that continues to flash on the dashboard even after the…

Toyota to replace faulty 8-speed automatic transmission in 2024 – but
Eligible vehicles must display at least one of the six diagnostic trouble codes go through Brad Anderson September 16, 2024 19:10 The technical service bulletin does not include models equipped with manual transmission. Toyota will perform repairs only if a 2024 Tacoma model displays one of six fault codes. The entire transmission and torque package will change. Pickup trucks like the Toyota Tacoma are supposed to be reliable and trustworthy, but several owners of 2024 Tacoma models in the U.S. have complained about transmission issues. Toyota acted quickly and issued an official technical service bulletin, which means the affected trucks will be repaired free of charge. The technical service bulletin was shared with dealers last week and covers only certain 2024 Tacoma VINs, all of which are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, since this is not a safety recall, Toyota will not be offering a fix for all applicable 2024 Tacoma models, but only those that have been…
Faulty floor mats could cause unexpected acceleration in Buick vehicles
The accelerator pedal may become trapped under the floor mat, causing the accelerator pedal to become stuck in the depressed position. Buick has announced a recall of nearly 30,000 Envision vehicles because their aftermarket floor mats may be defective. The mat may cause the accelerator pedal to stick, resulting in unintended acceleration. Toyota vehicles had similar problems, leading to a massive recall and four deaths. Few people give floor mats a second thought, but they caused a stir nearly two decades ago when Toyota was forced to recall nearly four million vehicles because the mats could cause the accelerator pedal to get stuck. Unfortunately, this had tragic consequences, with four people killed in a single crash. Today, floor mats are making headlines again. The latest recall involves 27,793 Buick Envision crossovers because their all-weather floor mats pose a similar risk. Specifically, NHTSA said, "the accelerator pedal could become trapped under the mat, causing unintended acceleration." MORE: 2024 Buick Envision gets…
