Jeep 4xe battery explosion hazard sparks lawsuit
FCA Canada files lawsuit over two battery fire recalls of Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs December 19, 2024 — Explosive battery hazards in the Jeep 4xe have prompted a class-action lawsuit in Canada following the recall of 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEV. The FCA Canada class action lawsuit includes everyone in Canada who owns, owns, leases, leases and/or uses a 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe or a 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. Land Rover recalls Range Rover due to production shutdown hazard
Nearly 17,000 Range Rovers are being recalled due to a cracked upper steering knuckle joint. December 3, 2024 — Nearly 17,000 Range Rovers are being recalled because the knuckle joints on the front suspension can crack and cause the suspension arms to separate. Recalled 2014-2016 Range Rovers may experience steering and stability issues if the suspension arms separate. In 2019, a Range Rover suffered a front suspension steering knuckle failure while driving at low speeds. Due to similar reports in Canada, Land Rover was contacted by Transport Canada, and more accidents followed. Engineers determined that the use of road salt would cause the steering knuckle to fail. Land Rover has received 12 claims over the past nine years, but no collisions or injuries have been reported. Land Rover dealers will inspect the front suspension knuckles and install mounting brackets, or possibly replace the knuckles. Toyota Sequoia recalled due to resin trailer hitch cover
Toyota is recalling 47,000 Sequoia vehicles because the trailer hitch cover could separate from the bumper. August 27, 2024 — The 2023-2024 Toyota Sequoia recall affects approximately 45,300 Sequoia SUVs in the United States and approximately 1,412 Sequoia SUVs in Canada. The Toyota Sequoia resin trailer hitch cover may detach from the rear bumper while driving, posing a road hazard. SUV owners will receive a letter from Toyota requiring the removal of the resin trailer hitch cover until dealers replace the cover with an improved version. The government has not yet released recall details, but Toyota Sequoia owners will be contacted by the end of October 2024. Owners of 2023-2024 Toyota Sequoia SUVs can call 800-331-4331.

The Split Wheels program includes the 2015 to 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the 2017 to 2019 Corvette Grand Sport. August 12, 2024 — Cracked and bent wheels on Chevrolet Corvettes have been a problem for some owners, so GM has announced Corvette Wheels Limited Special Compensation Program. Vehicles covered by the Corvette Flat Tire Compensation Program include 2015 to 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 cars and 2017 to 2019 Corvette Grand Sport cars. The program is available to former and current owners and lessees, but certain conditions must be met. You must provide documentation that the cracked or bent wheel was not caused by impact damage or road hazard damage. GM said the amount of reimbursement or other alternative remedies offered under the program depend on whether the repair or replacement was performed by a GM dealer, the type of documentation provided and when the repair or replacement occurred. Cadillac XT5 and XT6 Instrument Panel Recall Notice
General Motors is recalling Cadillac vehicles after receiving 195 complaints about dashboards. June 27, 2024 — Cadillac XT5 and XT6 instrument panel failures have led to the recall of more than 6,700 SUVs, but the instrument panel failure must meet certain conditions. The instrument panel on the recalled 2023-2025 Cadillac XT5 and 2024-2025 Cadillac XT6 may not illuminate when the hazard lights, high beams or turn signals are activated. "Drivers may not realise that turn signals, hazard warning flashers or high beams are inadvertently switched on or remain on, which can confuse or distract pedestrians and other road users and increase the risk of a crash."
