2028 Holden Torana A9X: What if GM made a BMW M2 Slayer?

Holden's Torana is set to make a comeback as a hot rod, but we explore what it would have been like as a factory model if the brand had survived go through Josh Burns October 19, 2024 19:21 The Torana A9X sits alongside Ford's XY Falcon GTHO Phase III as one of Australia's most iconic estate cars. Our renderings envision the reborn Holden Torana positioned as a rival to the BMW M and Ford Mustang coupes. This contemporary style blends rear-wheel drive performance with classic and contemporary design. While most car enthusiasts outside of Australia are familiar with names such as the Holden Monaro and Commodore and the Ford Falcon, the Holden Torana remains a little-known piece of Australian car lore - despite GM's last attempt with the Torana TT36 to revive the name. The concept was proposed as early as 2004. Yet despite its low profile on the global stage, its high-performance variants are often hailed as one of…

Pick of the Day: 2001 Holden Ute

have you ever thought about What would a modern Chevrolet El Camino look like? Fortunately, you don't have to use your imagination too much. The Holden Ute is a Commodore-based "coupe" produced by the Australian subsidiary of General Motors between 2000 and 2017. It's not for sale in North America, but you're in luck because one of these has already made its way to this hemisphere of the planet. Today's Pick is a 2001 Holden Commodore SS Ute for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Komoka, Ontario. The wheels and tires appear aftermarket, and the suspension may have been lowered to minimize fender clearance.…

Commodore exceeded the speed limit by 110 km/h

South Australian police have charged a 21-year-old man with two speeding charges after the state's safety cameras twice detected his Holden Commodore going 110km/h over the speed limit. At 4.30am on August 10, a speed camera at the intersection of Elizabeth Grove Main North Road and Fairfield Road recorded the Commodore travelling at 196km/h in an 80km/h zone. Just three days later, on August 13, another safety camera at the intersection of Main North Road and Wolmar Road in Elizabeth North detected the car again, this time at a speed of 203 km/h. Both alleged crimes took place within minutes of the former Holden Elizabeth plant, which produced most of the company's vehicles from 1963 to 2017, including the Commodore in question. On August 18, police responded to the man's home in Elizabeth Downs, where police dog Jacks found the 21-year-old hiding in a cupboard. He was charged with two counts of speeding ($1895 fine, nine demerit points) and two…

1K Miles 2006 Pontiac GTO 6 Speed

this Daily Selection yes A Colorado dealer has listed a 2006 Pontiac GTO for sale on ClassicCars.com. I'm not a huge sports fan, but I know enough about sports to recognize that Pontiac fanatics are the automotive version of Buffalo Bills fans. You've all had to endure a lot of pain. That pain came from the gasoline crisis, Pontiac badges being slapped on minivans, and the end of the Trans Am in 2002. A few years later, Pontiac as a whole was discontinued altogether. In between those two tragic milestones, the GTO returned after a 30-year absence...only to be discontinued again in 2006. Oops. The last generation of the GTO may have only been around for three years, but it's come a long way in that short time. Based on the Australian-built Holden Monaro, the 2004 GTO made its way to the U.S. with what Car and Driver called the odd combination of "no-name-looking" styling and the famous LS1 5.7-liter…
