The role of artificial intelligence in streamlining operations and reducing costs
Artificial Intelligence and Traditional Automation Traditional automation involves rule-based systems for repetitive tasks without human intervention, done through tools such as scripts or data entry. While it is effective for simple tasks, it lacks adaptability and decision-making capabilities beyond set scenarios. In contrast, AI-driven automation uses artificial intelligence to learn from data over time, handling complex tasks such as pattern recognition and prediction. It can analyze large data sets, identify trends and make real-time adjustments, capabilities that traditional automation lacks. The main difference is flexibility and intelligence, as AI-driven automation can process unstructured data, evolve through machine learning, and provide insights, making it ideal for dynamic applications such as predictive maintenance and demand forecasting. European Union: Impact of the Artificial Intelligence Act (EU
in short EU Regulation 2024/1689 on Artificial Intelligence aims to introduce strict rules on the design, implementation and placing on the market of artificial intelligence systems. It applies to suppliers established within Europe and suppliers established outside the EU. The impact of the above regulations on so-called SAMD (i.e. software as medical devices) classified as "high risk" appears to be equally significant. In this regard, it is worth noting how such obligations will come into effect from 2 August 2027 for artificial intelligence systems classified as “high risk”, while from 2 August 2026 the Regulation will be universally applicable. Questions remain about how the regulation will be implemented. For Class I medical device software, designated agency intervention is obviously not required, and they would not fall within the concept of "high risk" AI SAMD, provided that such SAMDs are not classified as medical devices, or do not fall within the concept of "high risk" AI SAMD category. Medical devices higher…

Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe? – IAEE
By: Nicole Bowman, MBA, CEM-AP | Vice President of Marketing and Communications | IAEE Growing up, I heard about IBM Watson but never really understood what it was about. I watched Minority Report, I Robot, and other similar movies as a kid, and AI was always considered a doomsday technology that would take over the world and remove humans from the workforce. In the wrong hands, it would be very dangerous. Companies would use it to lay off employees. We are now at that point. Although AI has been around for decades, it is making waves in mainstream society. 2024 looks to be the year that AI is accepted into our lives, not to take over, but to enrich our lives. Enter the world of the modern marketer. I’m taking a stand right now. AI is my friend! Why? Because I’m a marketer. Because I have a small team that’s pulled in a million different directions every day. Because our…

Artificial Intelligence: In or Out (Source)? | UFI Blog
author Stephen Forsellus, Chief Technology Officer Easy Buyas well as UFI Digital Innovation Working Group. There is no doubt that Artificial Intelligence has been in the spotlight over the past few months. It seems like every trade show organizer has begun exploring, validating, experimenting, investigating, and even implementing AI in their business environment. However, as most companies seem to rely on external partners to innovate in this area, some have decided to innovate primarily “in-house” and recruit the required (scarce) talent. My goal today is to look at the various options from both sides. To do this, I want to share my own experiences as CTO of Easyfairs, as well as the experiences of some of the most innovative peers in the industry. I must admit that I have always been fascinated by artificial intelligence. In the mid-1990s, during my university years, I worked on the first neural networks available at the time (developed by the University of Stuttgart, which…
