AutoHunter Spotlight: 1991 Acura Legend L
When Honda launched the Acura In 1986, they created something the world had never seen before: a truly top-shelf luxury car from Japan. Sure, the Japanese have been building cars like the Monarch and President for years for their home market, but these cars aren't seen anywhere else in the world and are just single models rather than entire car lines. Acura's concept proved to be quite successful, and before long you had Toyota launching the Lexus and Nissan launching the Infiniti. My favorite of all Acura vehicles has always been the Acura Legend Coupe. In fact, my family had one when I was a kid and I remember thinking the build quality was just as good as the BMW 633CSi we had at the time. Now, this 1991 Acura Legend L is listed on AutoHunter, an auction platform powered by ClassicCars.com. The Legend is Acura's top model. Think of it as the company's version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and…
Pick of the Day: 1974 Datsun B210
That was in The oil crisis of the early 1970s allowed Japanese cars to really begin to occupy a large portion of the market share in the United States. One of the vehicles responsible for this transformation is the tiny Datsun B210. The dealer named the car the "Mini Z." What it lacks in performance, it makes up for in fuel economy. Today's pick is a 1974 Datsun B210 for sale on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in San Jose, California. (Click the link to see the list.) "Greetings to all fans of classic Datsun," the list begins. "This is a great weekend warrior or daily driver." The seller reportedly purchased the car from the original owner with only 20,000 miles on the odometer. There are now about 31,000 because "she has been dormant for many years." The first thing that caught my eye about this vintage hatchback was the bright turquoise exterior. The interior is equally eye-catching with orange…
2025 Acura TLX S Type
(Photo by Dustin W. Johnson) Acura TLX has come a long way past few years. It was launched in 2015 as the successor to the TL sedan. A few years ago, I reviewed a 2017 model and was disappointed with its lack of urgency and slow response. The second-generation TLX, launched four years later, was a major improvement. Regular models with the Premium package and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) are the perfect blend of amenities and sportiness. It makes me wonder how much better its high-performance sibling, the Type S, is. Now I have the chance to drive the 2025 Acura TLX Type S. Was the three-year wait worth it? "S" meaning Acura's regular TLX's main achievement is striking the right balance between sportiness and luxury. This is no small thing. The Type S has a more difficult goal: significantly increase power and performance without destroying the TLX's usability and comfort. Rather than upping the base car's 2.0-liter turbo…
1991 Acura Legend L Coupe
when the time comes In 1987, Motor Trend magazine named it Import Car of the Year, and the winner was the all-new Acura Legend coupe. It was praised by the magazine for its handling, construction and styling, beating out 12 other finalists to take top honors. This 1991 Acura Legend L Coupe appeared on AutoHunter, an online auction platform operated by ClassicCars.com. The car is being sold by a dealer in Highland Park, New Jersey, and the auction will end on Tuesday. The AutoHunter was launched about a month after the 1994 Legend GS sedan was sold on the same platform. Incidentally, the car was eventually purchased by an Acura enthusiast in Virginia who had already made some improvements to it. The new owners plan to attend next year's National Legends Gathering. Maybe the lucky buyer of this car will show up there too? The Legend was a key component in American Honda's bold decision to launch the Acura division…
Review: 2025 Toyota Camry XSE
not long ago Toyota is seen as a company that builds well-made, reliable but boring transportation equipment, many of which are fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles. In a way, that's fine because vehicles like this are necessary, but car enthusiasts know Toyota has more to offer because they've done it before - and Toyota used to be fun. In the 1990s, the company produced a 320-horsepower rear-wheel-drive Supra with a twin-turbocharged engine and a six-speed manual transmission. If that's out of reach for some customers, there's also the wedge-shaped mid-engine MR2. Over the past few years, Toyota has been working to break down its stingy image. It tasked the performance experts at TRD (Toyota Racing Development) with making the Camry and Avalon sedans even sportier and more exciting. It also (finally!) brings back the Supra (albeit with a BMW engine). Even the Corolla received the hot hatch treatment and became a 300-hp all-wheel-drive GR (Gazoo Racing) Corolla. But the renewed focus on…
Back in Action: Kyusha Club 2024 Fall Auto Show
Summer 2024 is coming That's in our rearview mirror, which means Arizona's car culture is waking up for the outdoor season. Recently, new developments have begun at the Kyusha Club, a club beloved by The Wall Street Journal in recent years for its variety of vehicles and laid-back atmosphere. The event is a gathering of European and Japanese cars held near historic Roosevelt Street in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The centerpiece of the September 28 event was an old car shop, with several specially invited cars parked inside. A surface parking lot to the east accommodated a few dozen more vehicles, and everyone else found street parking within a block or two of the site. One of the joys of the Nine Clubs is standing on the street watching the constant parade of interesting cars. Here are some of my favorite vehicles on display, arranged by model year. 1970 BMW 2002 This car helped establish BMW's reputation as a sporty compact…
2025 Toyota GR Corolla gets automatic transmission, other updates
Not long ago When people complained that Toyota only made boring cars. Apparently, the company listened to them and did something about it. That explains performance-oriented models like the Camry TRD, the Supra Six-Speed, and Toyota's hottest hatchback, the 300-horsepower, all-wheel-drive GR (Gazoo Racing) Corolla, the latter of which comes exclusively with a six-speed stick shift. Toyota has given it several suspension, cooling, and engine upgrades for 2025, but don't worry—it's not killing off the manual transmission. An automatic transmission is, however, being added to the options list. Considering the GR Corolla was launched as a 2023 model, it's surprising Toyota has updated it so thoroughly just two years later. It starts with the new Premium Plus trim level, which combines the Core and Premium grades and adds a sub-radiator for additional cooling, a "raised hood" with functional vents, matte black 18-inch wheels and a forged carbon fiber roof to the Premium specification. Inside, Premium Plus models get a head-up…
2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata Grand Touring
Last decadeI've had the privilege of driving hundreds of different media vehicles. Most of them have been positive experiences. Several have stood out in terms of exterior styling, interior amenities, acceleration, sportiness, or a combination of those traits. Some have changed my life, like the first Jeep I ever drove off-road. Only one has made me an evangelist: the Mazda MX-5 Miata. If you haven't experienced Mazda's iconic roadster, I'll tell you what I would tell my younger self: drive one. And now's a great time to do it, because it's been updated for the 2024 model year. The current fourth-generation Miata was introduced as a 2016 model, weighing less than the outgoing model (NC), with a new design that elegantly balances tension and curvature, and a more fuel-efficient Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter I4 engine. In 2017, the Retractable Fastback (RF) model joined the lineup. The 2019 model adds 26 horsepower and 3 pound-feet of torque. Mazda has equipped the 2022 Miata…
Pick of the Day: 1997 Toyota Century
this Daily Selection This is a 1997 Toyota Century with 46K kms, sold by a dealer in Virginia on ClassicCars.com. It's been a long time since you've stood out in the crowd if you drive almost any car of a certain age in good condition. Outside of events like the Future Collector Car Show, when was the last time you saw someone driving around in a brand new Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG or a pristine 1999 Buick Riviera? Maybe you've seen one of those recently, but there's a good chance you haven't been outdone by a car like this 1997 Toyota Century. Like the car I mentioned, this Toyota shares the same basic features. It's a model from the past, and its understated black exterior looks to be in good condition. But it has a uniqueness that those two cars can't match. Toyota never officially sold the Century in the United States. Fortunately, this car has been in production for 25…
Today’s Pick: 24K km 1991 Nissan Figaro
this Daily Selection This is a 1991 Nissan Figaro with 24K kms, sold by a dealer in Virginia on ClassicCars.com. For a primary, everyday car, practicality and utility are usually top of mind for most buyers. A commuter car needs to be inexpensive, comfortable, and fuel-efficient. The criteria for a second or (especially) third car will be different. That's when factors like styling, performance, and exhaust note may be moved higher up the list of requirements. If you're going to spend extra money on a car you don't need, you should buy one you actually do need. thinkIf you want something relatively rare and definitely unique, take a look at this 1991 Nissan Figaro. After debuting at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show, the Figaro went into production as a 1991 model - and that was it. Nissan decided to build just 20,000 of them for Japanese customers (although some websites, such as this one, put the number at 20,073). To…
2025 Mazda CX-70 3.3 Turbo S Premium Plus
February 2024 In the press release for the all-new 2025 CX-70 midsize crossover, Mazda says the car was "designed to meet the needs of North American customers." Specifically, people who enjoy cars as part of a hobby and passion. This got me curious. What do North American customers want from a car? I first answered the question myself, then did some informal research in my Scottsdale, Arizona, office, asking three of my colleagues—one from Virginia, one from Minnesota, and one from Canada. This led to another question: Does the 2025 Mazda CX-70 have what it takes to meet those demands? Mazda offers two different powertrains for the CX-70. The plug-in hybrid CX-70 features a turbocharged 2.5-liter I4 engine and an electric motor. There's also a 48-volt mild-hybrid version of the CX-70, which has a turbocharged 3.3-liter I6 engine in two states of tune and three trim levels. No matter which CX-70 you choose, it comes with rear-biased all-wheel drive and…
46K Miles 2007 Honda Accord EX 5 Speed
Featured Car Hunter Networkan online auction platform operated by ClassicCars.com, is auctioning this 2007 Honda Accord EX Coupe. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this car will be donated to the American Cancer Society. “The world of car enthusiasts is a very tight-knit family,” said Tyson Hugie, one of our ClassicCars.com Journal contributors. In addition to his editorial work, Tyson has managed an automotive-themed YouTube channel for nearly 18 years, during which time he has connected with some amazing people through the platform. One of those people was Mark Walters of Arvada, CO. Tyson's love of Honda/Acura fascinated Mark, especially some of Tyson's recent restorations. Earlier this year, Tyson received an email from Mark that read, "I have owned Hondas for 37 consecutive years. My first was a 1987 Accord LX-i hatchback, followed by a 2007 Accord EX five-speed, and a 2021 Ridgeline. I now find myself in a serious health situation. I need to find a…
The 2025 Honda Civic Si gets new styling, upgraded technology, and
Honda Civic Type R Of all the cars in its class, the Civic Si might get the most attention thanks to its 315 horsepower and big racing wing at the rear, but let's not forget the Civic Si. For decades, it was the only high-performance version of the Civic we could officially buy in the U.S. Now, this modern classic gets even better for the 2025 model year with a variety of visual, structural, and interior updates. To call the facelifted Civic Si a facelift would be misleading. Sure, it's available in Urban Pearl Gray for the first time, with a restyled front fascia that features a hexagonal mesh grille and revised taillights with a dark tint. The Si-specific matte black 18-inch wheels are redesigned and come with either standard rubber or high-performance summer tires. But the Civic Si's internal structure has also been revised to make it more rigid. Honda says "new lower B-pillars and rear sill braces increase…
