Kia Tasman pickup truck will make its world premiere in Jeddah on October 29
The Kia Tasman will use a body-on-frame architecture and will initially be sold in the Middle East, South Korea, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Kia's first C-class pickup truck, the Tasman, will make its world premiere at the 2024 Jeddah International Motor Show in Saudi Arabia on October 29. The announcement was made on social media without providing any further details. That being said, a clip accompanying the premiere date shows the Black Tasman driving through the desert without any disguise. Although vague, the teaser shows an upright front end made up of a square grille (with vertical slats), vertically stacked LED headlights, and dramatic fenders. There appear to be boxy wheel arches on the sides, while the rear fascia could have Kia lettering affixed to the tailgate. The Jeddah street circuit is one of the fastest in the world, with 27 turns, and will be shortened to suit the unique requirements of Formula E. Formula E's annual race in Saudi Arabia will move from Diriyah to Jeddah next season. The race will take place on a shortened version of the Formula 1 Jeddah Corniche. The change was approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Sports. Jeddah will host two events on February 14-15, 2025. Diriyah, near Riyadh, has hosted six events in the past, but the Gen3 cars struggled to deliver exciting racing.
