However, this appears to be the Enduro variant, an off-road version of the standard 390 Adventure. Judging from the spy shots, KTM's quintessential dual-sport motorcycle (390 Adventure Enduro) looks smaller than the standard motorcycle. It is visually easy to identify with its sharp styling and minimalist elements: a beak-like front fender, a sculpted fuel tank with a sharp tank extension, a one-piece seat and a slim tail section. The headlamp is also a one-piece unit, while the mid-mounted footrests put you in an upright riding position. The test bike also features an underbody exhaust pipe and a sari guard. The KTM 990 SMT has a rather tall design, just like the KTM 990 Adventure, and as you can see, it borrows several elements from the Duke and Adventure models to set it apart. The 990 SMT motorcycle is powered by the liquid-cooled 947cc parallel-twin engine that finds its way into the KTM 990 Duke. This LC8c engine complies with Euro 5+ regulations and comes with new pistons, a rebuilt crankshaft and connecting rods. In the 2024 KTM 990 Duke, the engine produces 123bhp of power at 9,500rpm and 103Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm.
