Ford recalls vehicles with oil leaking 3.5L GTDI engines
Includes 2024-2025 Ford F-150, 2024 Ford Expedition and 2024 Lincoln Navigator vehicles. December 3, 2024 — Recalling more than 2,700 Ford F-150, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with 3.5L GTDI engines in the United States and Canada. Ford is recalling 2024-2025 Ford F-150, 2024 Ford Expedition and 2024 Lincoln Navigator vehicles because the engines may begin to leak large amounts of oil. Ford Expedition seat belt pretensioner recall investigated
Ford Expedition owners continue to complain about sudden deployment of seat belt pretensioners. November 18, 2024 — The Ford Expedition SUV is under government investigation following a recall in February of the 2018-2020 Ford Expedition and 2018-2020 Lincoln Navigator. However, as of now, NHTSA has not included the Lincoln Navigator in its investigation. In February, Ford recalled Expeditions equipped with front seat belt pretensioners that would not deploy in a crash. These pretensioners quickly tighten the passenger's seat belts in a crash. But they should not be activated without effect. Expedition seat belt retractor pretensioners were manufactured between October 1, 2018, and June 30, 2019, but a corroded detonation pin caused the pretensioners to deploy while driving, the recall document states. Once deployed, the pretensioner is useless in the event of a crash and may cause problems because the seat belt remains in the locked position once the pretensioner deploys. Since announcing the Ford Expedition recall in February, NHTSA has…
Ford Expedition seatbelt pretensioner recall ends
2019 Ford Expedition owners complained about seatbelt pretensioners suddenly activating. August 1, 2024 — The Ford Expedition recall prompted the government to close an investigation into seatbelt pretensioners in 2019 Ford Expeditions that activated for no apparent reason. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched an investigation into the Ford Expedition in November 2023 after owners complained about unexpected deployment of the seatbelt pretensioners. Seatbelt pretensioners help protect occupants in certain crashes. In a frontal collision, the pretensioners pull the seatbelt towards the occupant's body for a split second. Retractable pretensioners pull the shoulder belt and, in some collisions, pull it closer to the body. Ford Expedition owners sometimes hear a loud pop before the torso seat belts tighten. This is how the pretensioners are supposed to activate, but they don't unless there's a crash. According to NHTSA: "Investigations have revealed that some seatbelt pretensioners may develop corroded detonator pins where the bridge wire (heating element of the pyrotechnic device)…
