Cadillac LYRIQ recall, brake failure possible
More than 24,000 all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ all-wheel-drive SUVs require a software update. August 16, 2024 — GM is recalling more than 24,000 of its all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ all-wheel-drive SUVs because drivers could lose their brakes. The recall is for 2023-2024 Cadillac LYRIQ SUVs because the anti-lock braking system (ABS) may unexpectedly activate and release brake pressure in the braking system. "Under rare circumstances, the vehicle may experience overly sensitive Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) control during certain braking operations at speeds less than 25 mph on dry roads. In these circumstances, if the ABS erroneously activates and a specific sequence of wheel motion occurs, the vehicle's ABS system will continue to release brake pressure from the vehicle's service brake system." — General Motors GM launched an investigation in May after receiving reports of two minor crashes caused by brake failure.
