Maruti Suzuki becomes first Indian OEM to cross 2 million units in sales
Maruti Suzuki is the first Indian car manufacturer to reach 2 million units in production in a single calendar year. This is also the first Suzuki Motor Corporation subsidiary to achieve this milestone. The 2 millionth car is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV, produced at the Manesar plant in Haryana. Models such as the Baleno, Fronx, Wagon R and Brezza are key contributors to this achievement in 2024. The company operates three manufacturing plants: two in Haryana (Gurgaon and Manesar) and one in Gujarat (Hansalpur). The plants have a combined annual production capacity of 2.35 million vehicles, with plans to increase that to 4 million vehicles. The new plant in Harkhoda, Haryana will be operational by 2025 and will produce an additional 250,000 vehicles per year.
