Launched in May 2024 with a petrol engine, Maruti Suzuki's fourth-generation Swift has added a CNG option to its powertrain line-up. The recently launched Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG is powered by the Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine and comes with a factory CNG kit. Unlike the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG, the CNG kit includes a large single-cylinder unit. The latter uses twin-cylinder CNG technology and includes two smaller CNG cylinders with a total capacity of 60 litres. This increases the boot space compared to conventional CNG cars. The Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG is available in three variants - VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi - and is priced from Rs 82 lakh to Rs 92 lakh. Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Swift CNG in the Indian market. The car is based on the new-generation Swift hatchback with a petrol engine that was launched about four months ago. Since then, the petrol-powered hatchback has sold over 67,000 units. Coming back to the Swift CNG, the new model comes in three variants - VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi - and is priced at Rs 8.2 lakh (ex-showroom). All three variants of the Swift CNG are powered by the new Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine paired with a factory-fitted CNG kit. On petrol, the Swift outputs 80bhp at 5,700rpm and produces 112Nm of peak torque at 4,300rpm. In CNG mode, the car produces 69bhp and 101.8Nm at 2,900rpm. Maruti Suzuki says the CNG version has a fuel efficiency of 32.85km/kg (ARAI), which is 6% better than its predecessor. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the Swift CNG in India around the second week of September 2024. The hatchback will be similar to its petrol-powered counterpart but will get some CNG-specific tweaks. It is expected to be priced Rs 95,000 higher than the Swift Petrol, which starts at Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The current-generation Swift is available in five different variants - LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi and ZXi+ - with both manual and automatic transmission options.
