Improved response to large-scale collisions reported in October 2023; will reduce bird collisions during migration season Submitted by Jonathon Sadowski of Hawthorne Strategy Group Chicago — The Metropolitan Marina and Exhibition Authority (MPEA), owner of McCormick Place, announced today that it has completed the installation of bird-safe window film at the Convention Park’s Lakefront Center ahead of the fall migration season. The film was installed in response to a massive collision at Lakeside Center in October 2023 and is designed to reduce bird collisions by helping birds differentiate between windows and the open air. The MPEA sought a window film solution based on recommendations from meetings with numerous local, national and international bird and animal advocacy groups, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Chicago Bird Collision Monitor and Never Collide.
