MG Comet EV and ZS EV with BaaS plan to be launched in India
MG Motor India recently launched the all-new Windsor EV (electric vehicle) with a Battery as a Service (BaaS) ownership plan, where the price of the vehicle does not include the battery cost. The plan requires owners to lease the battery and pay for it as per usage, which is Rs 3.5 per km. Now, the battery leasing plan has been extended to the company's popular Comet EV and ZS EV, making them more affordable than before. Under the BaaS scheme, the MG Comet EV and ZS EV start at Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 13.99 lakh respectively. Comet EV, ZS EV help MG Motor India achieve over 35% sales
MG Motor India reported retail sales of 4,572 units in July 2024, down from 5,012 units in the same period last year. This represents a year-on-year decline of 8.7%. Of the total vehicles sold in July, MG’s two electric vehicles, Comet and ZS EV, accounted for over 1,500 units, highlighting the strong customer acceptance of new energy vehicles (NEVs). MG Motor India and JSW Group are working on bringing its third electric car, the MG Windsor EV, to our market. The Windsor EV is a crossover that is sold as the Wuling Cloud EV in the Indonesian market. In the global market, two battery options are available - 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh, which power a 134bhp, front-axle-mounted electric motor.
