The dealer allegedly leased used cars as new cars, violating state regulations on vehicle sales. LaFontaine Automotive Group blamed rogue employees before reinstating its dealer license. It's not uncommon for dealers to engage in shady behavior - after all, the auto industry has its share of unsavory characters - but sometimes, just sometimes, they do get caught. A dealer in Michigan lost his license (albeit briefly as it turned out) due to some pretty questionable tactics. While the suspension was temporary, a series of violations suggested it was more than just a minor misstep. According to Michigan authorities, LaFontaine Automotive allegedly committed fraud by leasing used vehicles as if they were new vehicles.
