MINI to Monterey: Day 5
MINI agreed to lend it to me A 2025 Cooper S so I can put in 3,100 miles to cover the events of Monterey Car Week. Follow the entire series here. So I decided to limit my trip for the day so it would be easier to stop at things to see along the way rather than just driving a few miles on Interstate 80. I had no real plan, but it turned out there was a lot to do and some fun photo opportunities. After leaving Salt Lake City, Utah, I took a detour to the Bonneville Salt Flats, where the fastest men on earth hope to set records. The Bonneville track is home to almost every famous racer in the world. This place is definitely haunted and has a really cool vibe. There was some testing going on at the time, but the officials were kind enough to let me stop by the sign for a cool photo.…
From MINI to Monterrey: Day 4
MINI agreed to lend it to me A 2025 Cooper S so I can put in 3,100 miles to cover the events of Monterey Car Week. Follow the entire series here. The distance from Lincoln, Nebraska to Salt Lake City, Utah is 876 miles. According to the onboard navigation, it takes a total of 12 hours and 18 minutes before stopping. It's a long day, but the new 2025 MINI Cooper S handles it with ease. This is largely thanks to the truly excellent driver assistance options on the car. Did I mention that on top of that, the new MINI averaged 77 mph and got an amazing 42 mpg?!? Today I was on Interstate 80 in Nebraska and…
From MINI to Monterrey: Day 3
MINI agreed to lend it to me A 2025 Cooper S so I can put in 3,100 miles to cover the events of Monterey Car Week. Follow the entire series here. The photo says it all. I spent most of today in the middle of nowhere in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska. At the end of the day, I saw a large convenience store in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the sign that read "You're Not Going Anywhere" perfectly summed up my day's driving and most of the places I passed. Reflection of truck I started at 6am and basically spent the entire day on I-80, just driving a few miles and stopping at rest areas occasionally. Afterwards, I went to a truck stop and had lunch at Arby's. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. I was looking forward to reaching Omaha, Nebraska, where I would meet up with my best friend Trent Abbott at his garage and…
