Ola MoveOS 5 unveiled, equipped with ADAS, group navigation and other features

Ola Electric launched the MoveOS 5 software update at its annual launch event at Futurefactory in Tamil Nadu; however, the update will be made available to users in beta form via OTA (over-the-air) update this Diwali. MoveOS 5 is the latest version of Ola's operating platform that keeps its electric scooters updated. This is said to be the company's biggest launch to date. With MoveOS 5, the newly launched Ola Roadster range (Roadster, X and Pro) gets a host of premium features. The X is the entry-level offering in the Roadster range and it introduces Advanced Regeneration, Ola Maps Navigation (turn-by-turn navigation), TPMS alerts, OTA updates, cruise control, DIY mode and riding modes (Sport, Normal, Eco). The motorcycle also gets Digital Key unlocking and Ola Electric App connectivity. Other features include disc brakes and CBS (Combined Braking System). Ola Electric launches Bharat battery made in India

Ola returned on August 15 with the usual slew of surprises, including the launch of its in-house manufactured lithium battery, called the 'Bharat Cell', which will be used in its electric vehicles by the first quarter of fiscal 2026. The innovative 4680 Bharat Cell, which has over 70 patents, is claimed to have five times higher energy density, 1.5 times faster charging and 10% more range than the 2170 cells currently used in the company's scooters. It marks a new chapter in India's 'Atmanirbharta' initiative to minimise its reliance on imports. Apart from being used in Ola’s fleet of electric vehicles, these cutting-edge batteries can also be used for grid and residential energy storage. Their low cobalt content and high energy density improve performance and price. Notably, these batteries will be manufactured at Ola’s Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. Ola launches Roadster range of electric motorcycles in India

Nearly two months ago, Ola Electric said it would launch its first electric motorcycle in the first half of fiscal 2026. Subsequently, Ola released several teasers. Fast forward to today, Ola has launched its Roadster series at its flagship event Sankalp 2024. Ola Electric, India's first listed electric vehicle company and the world's largest two-wheeler electric vehicle company, has officially announced its foray into the mass and premium segments. Last August, Ola showcased its four futuristic electric motorcycle concepts: Adventure, Roadster, Cruiser and the futuristic-looking Diamondhead. Based on the Roadster concept previewed in 2023, the Roadster range uses an advanced Gen 3 platform and uses 4680 format batteries made in India, known as BharatCell. Pricing for the Roadster range (which includes Roadster, Pro and X) starts at Rs 75,000 for the 2.5kWh Roadster X model and goes up to Rs 250,000 for the top-of-the-line 16kWh Roadster Pro model.
