Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger door panels deformed: lawsuit
Class-action lawsuit alleges deformed door panels in Dodge Charger and Chrysler vehicles caused trouble. November 12, 2024 — Deformed door panels on 2014-2019 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 models led owners to file a class-action lawsuit in California four years ago. The Fiat Chrysler door panel lawsuit is still in the courts, but is currently in the District Court of Michigan, where certain claims remain. According to the lawsuit, the door panels of the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 deformed and separated from the frame. Additionally, the class action lawsuit claims that door panel deformation is not the entire problem. The owners who filed the lawsuit claim the deformation affected the door panels, center consoles, dashboards and kick panels of the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300. The plaintiff claims that once the panel began to deform, it separated from the vehicle. According to the property owner who filed the lawsuit: "The interior panels are bonded to the frame with adhesive.…
Ford Mustang recalled due to dashboard failure
Ford is recalling 6,200 Mustangs because the dashboard cluster may appear black. November 4, 2024 — More than 6,200 2024 Ford Mustangs are being recalled because the instrument panel may not light up when the vehicle is started or driven. The instrument cluster displays key information to the driver (speed, warning lights, instruments, etc.). Caution lights (warning lights) are required by law, but for Ford Bronco drivers, these lights won't appear because the dashboard is black. According to Ye Ye’s recollections: "Due to a software initialization issue in the Remote Cluster Box (RCB), a low voltage event may result in loss of communications." Ford learned of the issue during a warranty claim analysis process in August, but no other Ford vehicles have experienced the problem. Between June 11, 2024, and October 7, 2024, Ford was made aware of 58 warranty claims for instrument panels on 2024 Ford Mustangs. However, there have been no reports of crashes or injuries. GM turns to park class action lawsuit to be argued in Ohio
The lawsuit covers GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Blazer, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Traverse and Chevrolet Volt. September 28, 2024 — A GM “steer-to-park” class action lawsuit in Ohio alleges that five models fail to detect when drivers steer their vehicles into “park.” GM drivers reported seeing a "Shift to Park" message on their dashboard when the problem occurred. This prevents the driver from turning off the vehicle and locking the doors, forcing the driver to crank the gear lever and use "all kinds of tricks" to get the vehicle to detect that it is parked. The GM Turn Park class action lawsuit includes: "Any person or entity in Ohio who purchases or leases a 2017-2019 GMC Acadia, 2019 Chevrolet Blazer, 2016-2019 Chevrolet Malibu, 2018-2019 Chevrolet Traverse or 2016-2019 Chevrolet Volt vehicle." Chrysler is recalling 33,000 Jeeps for possible instrument panel failure. September 8, 2024 — Jeep's instrument panel recall affects about 33,000 Jeep Gladiators and Jeep Wranglers, which could cause drivers to lose their speedometers and warning lights. The Fiat Chrysler recall includes 2020 to 2024 Jeep Gladiator and 2018 to 2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles whose instrument panel clusters may malfunction due to a short circuit. Once a Jeep dashboard fails, it will not function. In October 2022, Chrysler was notified that the instrument panels on 2018 to 2024 Jeep Wrangler and 2020 to 2024 Jeep Gladiator vehicles were blank. Engineers studied the failure mode and examined instrument panels that were returned under warranty. FCA and the supplier determined the failure was caused by an internal short circuit. Kia says the headliner on 2024 EV9 vehicles may not protect occupants in a crash. June 21, 2024 — Kia's EV9 recall affects more than 2,400 SUVs because of a defect in the headliner that may not adequately protect occupants in a crash. The recalled 2024 Kia EV9 headliner issue also violates federal safety standards. "If a collision occurs and the passenger's head contacts the headliner, the headliner may not be able to absorb enough impact force." - hurry up In May, Kia received notice that the 2025 EV9 vehicles scheduled to begin production on May 30, 2024 at Kia's Georgia plant had issues during pre-production testing. Volkswagen warned owners not to have passengers in the passenger seat until the problem is resolved. June 27, 2024 — Volkswagen is recalling 307,000 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUVs because the passenger air bag may deploy when it shouldn't. The problem is so severe that Volkswagen is warning owners not to allow passengers to sit in the passenger seat until the vehicle is fixed. The recalled vehicles are 2021 to 2024 Volkswagen Atlas SUVs and 2020 to 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport SUVs, which are equipped with a potentially defective passenger occupant detection system. The Atlas system may have a wiring fault that would deactivate the front passenger air bag even if there is a occupant in the seat. General Motors is recalling Cadillac vehicles after receiving 195 complaints about dashboards. June 27, 2024 — Cadillac XT5 and XT6 instrument panel failures have led to the recall of more than 6,700 SUVs, but the instrument panel failure must meet certain conditions. The instrument panel on the recalled 2023-2025 Cadillac XT5 and 2024-2025 Cadillac XT6 may not illuminate when the hazard lights, high beams or turn signals are activated. "Drivers may not realise that turn signals, hazard warning flashers or high beams are inadvertently switched on or remain on, which can confuse or distract pedestrians and other road users and increase the risk of a crash."
